Play catch-up with me every fortnight as I give you a taste of what you’ve missed and what’s to come in Brisbane’s Food+Drink scene!
Bakery Lane’s newest addition
At the entryway to Bakery Lane in Fortitude Valley is a new restaurant-bar duo with a progressive menu and sophisticated cocktails: The Apo. Its name hails from the building’s original use as an Apothecary Hall. The venue pays homage to the heritage-listed building’s history with simplistic architecture and design choices.
Seafood... and eat it!
Fresh n Wild Fish at Portside Wharf has opened, much to the delight of Brisbane seafood lovers (check out our review in the March issue of Style!). This family-run business boasts 30 years of experience in the fresh seafood industry, serving up seasonal oysters, a variety of seafood platters to share, grilled Moreton Bay bug, fish tacos and soft shell crab bao, to name a few.
A newbie just south of the CBD
A trendy new café opened in the leafy Southside suburb of Yeronga this month: Seven South. But beyond the minimalist copper and greenery fit-out and urban chic timber feature wall, the menu has been carefully curated by owners Gavin and Kylie Bartholomew (who previously owned Home Café in Ashgrove) to provide unique twists on traditional flavours. Pop in and try their lemon thyme, blueberry and ricotta hotcakes, grilled pork and fennel sausages, porcini sformato with Shiraz reduction, or the smoky bourbon- and maple-glazed beef ribs.
Coffee Cherry Pale Ale!
It’s not the first time Brisbanites have put their lips to a coffee and mocha flavour beer, but this will be the first time they’ll sip a boutique beer with Australian-grown beans and fruit. The Straight Off The Tree coffee cherry pale ale has been handcrafted by Moonshine Coffee, Croft Brewing and Beard & Brau.
New Coco Bliss location
A little birdy tells us that Coco Bliss Collective is opening another smoothie and juice bar with raw foods, superfoods and all the acai bowls you can imagine at Garden City in six weeks! Keep an eye out for more details on their Facebook page.
B’Coz Bacon

Nodo Donuts’ slogan is “eat donuts for breakfast” and this weekend they’re trialling a new guilt-free breakfast item: WAFFLES! These tasty treats may be gluten- and dairy-free but they’re full of delicious waffle-y goodness and we can’t wait to try them!
