JUST OPENED: Fine Dining, Fireside

JUST OPENED: Fine Dining, Fireside

Time to get toasty!

By Courtney Frank | 15th July 2020

With Brissy experiencing its yearly cold snap and we all complain about being freezing as the temp drops below 15ºC, there’s nothing more comforting than a warm, crackling fire and some delicious food. So, when our favourite urban micro-winery, City Winery, announced their latest venture, Fireside Restaurant – an entire dining experience that revolves around fire – we were sold.

Featuring seasonal and locally sourced produce, Fireside is a unique chef-led food and wine experience from the hearts and minds behind City Winery, showcasing farm-direct produce in an intimate fine-dining setting.

Set over 5-7 courses and accompanied by paired wines, bookings are absolutely necessary with only 20 seats available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Led by Executive Chef Travis Crane, along with a highly experienced team of chefs, expect to enjoy a fine-dining experience like no other as your food is prepared over a four-metre custom-built fire pit. Travis often makes the journey out to the farms himself, working alongside the growers to source the best seasonal produce possible, so you know that you’re going to receive both quality and expertise from this experience.

The menu changes weekly to accommodate for the freshest ingredients, but you can expect anything from confit Moreton Bay squid to dry-aged duck breast, fine-wines from the Barossa region, and coal-grilled oysters. Um, yum!

The degustation menu starts from just $85pp, and there are two sittings available at 5.30pm and 8pm. But be warned, this experience is a hot commodity (no pun intended) around Brisbane right now, so best to jump online and book quick-smart if you want to secure a reservation.

PLUS! In more breaking news from City Winery, today they have announced their brand new wine experience centre and cellar door, located at 162 Edward Street. The venue will be a destination for city-dwellers to come in and try or buy the wines, or alternatively pop down for a glass of wine and watch the world go by!

Doors are opening today, Wednesday 15th July at 12pm and tastings are just $10 (which is waived if you buy any wines) and they will be open Monday to Saturday from 12-7pm (later on Friday and Saturday night).
