Brisbane now has the chance to experience a little taste of Tennessee thanks to the opening of the fried chicken sensation, Fat Belly Jacks! This heavily American-inspired restaurant has opened up at Petrie Terrace, beside Fritzenberger, to curb all your fried chicken and whiskey cravings.
Fat Belly Jacks is the brain-child of Ben Kagan, who embarked on the quest to create the world’s best fried chicken after his own fried chicken ‘crawl’ throughout America. Kagan spent several months figuring out how to recreate the American fried chicken; there’s certainly an art to cooking tender chicken with a light, crispy coating. Kagan seems to have nailed his fried chicken recipe and says the response to his chicken has been extremely positive. He’s even had Nashville residents commend him on his fried chicken creations!
When you order at Fat Belly Jacks, you will be able to customise your chicken by choosing the cut and spice level. Your choice of chicken will be served with pickles, a slice of white bread and either bacon-fried greens or mac and cheese as a side. Don’t worry, we sussed out the drinks situation too. To wash down your eats, Fat Belly Jacks will offer a wide range of North American spirits including bourbon, whiskey, moonshine, tequila and more! While you eat and drink to your heart’s content, you will be able to listen to American music (think country, blues and rock) and admire the western-themed décor.
