Your New Favourite Sports Bar Opens In Brisbane This Week!

Time to bring your A game.

Drunken Monkey Group, the owners of legendary Brisbane hotspot, the Brooklyn Standard, present to you: the Fat Angel Sports Bar and Grill. The new addition to Eagle Lane is replacing Mexican eatery, Coyotito, which closed a month ago to make room for the all-new sports bar.

Fresh from its makeover and opening this Friday, March 9, the Fat Angel will be Brisbane’s first authentic American sports bar. It’s set to be the go-to destination for all your favourite American and international sports games including American football, baseball, basketball, and hockey.

“The team are massive fans of American sport and we felt that there was a definite gap in the market in Brisbane when it comes to watching live games,” said Harlen Pointing, General Manager of Drunken Monkey Group.

“We will be bringing as much live American sport, replays of American games, and all the big AFL and NRL games to Brisbane as possible. If you love sport, this is the place to be!”

In the way of tucker, Fat Angel will be serving up all the tasty eats you would expect from a sports bar such as burgers, wings, jalapeño poppers; as well as some options for the more health-conscious sports fan such as light snacks and salads.

“I think our best seller will be our slow-cooked brisket,” said Harlen, “it will go really well with the selection of American beers we have on tap: Coors, Blue Moon and Sam Adams Boston Lager.”

Not only will the Fat Angel offer a selection of American and Aussie beers, but an extensive cocktail list as well, bringing on board Michael Pattison (of The Cloakroom) to run the bar.

Opening just in time for the tail-end of the American hockey and start of the Aussie footie season, we cannot wait to see what the team at the all-new hub of spectator sport have in store for us!
