Jason Coats of The Coats Group says there has always been the option for a new venue if the site was right, and while they often imagined that would take the form of a restaurant in the traditional sense, when this opportunity presented itself (about 14 months ago), it was clear that the best option for them was to launch a rooftop venue.
“We have always been about offering spaces where people can relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of their every day grind, while still offering a simple and comfortable approach to food and drinks.
“At Eleven Rooftop Bar the space and offerings will still allow people to enjoy a casual approach to dining (with a focus on share plates) in a more sophisticated setting, with the most amazing view over the Valley, CBD and surrounding areas,” Jason says.
Jason mentions the inspiration for the all day diner and rooftop bar came largely from a trip he had to Istanbul last year, inspired by the likes of venues such as Reina and Mikla. The design and vibe have also been influenced by overseas venues, such as Potato Head in Bali and Blue Marlin Bar in Ibiza, which are venues that Jason says exemplify casual sophistication.
“Our aim is to offer our guests a similar experience - relaxed and laid back by day transitioning into that cultured party vibe by night if that’s where the night takes us! The focus will also be on semi-private booths (offering bottle service) and other areas making the most of the rooftop atmosphere - just with the Brisbane skyline as the backdrop as opposed to a beach front,” he says.
So where is this sneaky venue? The bar is located on the eleventh floor fascia of the new building on Ann Street, directly opposite the existing Range Rover and Jaguar dealerships on Morgan Street.
The venue's decor has plenty of ibiza-inspired cushioned sitting and booths, with hanging bird cages scattered around the venue and from a life-size tree in the center of the venue.
Their logo and menu board will be prominently displayed in the front foyer window, but it will be the tempting illuminated blue neon signage on the vertical columns eleven floors up that will create the intrigue to venture up the elevator to the sophisticated new rooftop venue, with possibly the best unrestricted bar view in Fortitude Valley!
