Public holidays are fun… until you can’t find somewhere to eat! Luckily, we’ve had a looksee to find places around Brisbane where you can do just that this Ekka public holiday. We’ve got you covered from breakfast to dessert!


Darling & Co, Paddington 
For a delicious breakfast on Ekka Wednesday with a range of options, head to Darling & Co. We love the sound of their buttermilk waffles!
Open: 6.30am until late.

Deedot, Holland Park
This place is actually HEAVEN for breakfast and coffee. Bacon amd eggs with tomato relish? The best combo ever!
Open: 8am to 1pm

Foxy Bean, Woolloongabba
Whether you’re heading to the Ekka or off to the races, why not start your day by heading to Foxy Bean for a filling brekky?! Their Bushman’s Benedict just sounds way too inviting.
Open: 6am to 2pm


The Yiros Shop, Fortitude Valley, South Bank and Cannon Hill  
A mouth-watering yiros is just too good for lunch. Allllll the tzatziki!
Open: 11am to 9pm (city store closed)

Chur Burger, Fortitude Valley
To get your burger fix this public holiday, Chur Burger will be serving up your favourites! Grilled lamb, double-grilled beef, spiced chickpea fritter - you name it!
Open: 7am to 10pm

Cove Bar + Dining, South Bank 

For a delightful lunch from the sea, head to Cove this Ekka public holiday for a range of glorious meals to tide you over for the afternoon. They had me at seared scallops – yum!
Open: 11.30am to 4pm


Popolo Italian Kitchen & Bar, South Bank

Embrace all things Italian at Popolo! With tasty pizza and pasta dishes (and dessert!) to sink your teeth into, this is a fabulous central dinner location.
Open: 12pm to 2.30pm & 5pm to 12am

Riverbar & Kitchen, Brisbane
For dinner with a view, make your way to Riverbar for an array of meals on offer! Relax by the river and enjoy what’s left of the Ekka public holiday.
Open: 8am to 10pm

Madame Wu, Brisbane

If you’re in the mood for Asian cuisine, have a seat at Madame Wu and dig in to dumplings, buns, noodles and desserts!
Open: 12pm to 11pm


Sangria Bar, South Bank

If you’re up for tapas & wine, step into Ole Restaurant for a hump day treat!
Open: 11am ’til late

Lick! Ice Cream, Graceville

If you don’t have time to get to the Ekka for an iconic strawberry sundae, that’s totally fine! Those sundaes just happen to be from Lick! and they’re open for all the sweet tooths!
Open: 12pm to 9.30pm

Cobbler, West End  
Cobbler boats more than 400 whiskies and is the perfect place to unwind with friends.
Open: 4pm to 1am
