Brisbane’s First Licensed Cheese-Orientated Restaurant is Here!

Cheese in cheese on cheese with a side of cheese. Yes, cheese. Uh, we mean please.

It’s a cheese lover’s dream come true! And we’re not talking those weird dreams you get when you have too much cheese before bed. Trust us, this is WAY better!

Start getting those cheesy grins ready! A venue will soon be opening on Milton’s iconic Park Road that will put your regular cheese outings to shame. Hint: it involves more than 80 types of cheese. Gouda-ness gracious!

We’ve always admired the French for what they do with fashion, beauty and language. AND they gave us the word “fromagerie”, which translates to “cheese shop” so we must bow down to them for that.

New Brisbane venture Fromage [The Cow] is taking the fromagerie concept to the next level by introducing a full-service cheese-orientated restaurant.

Yes, you read that right. And we mean ALL menu offerings will be based around cheese. There will also be a wine bar with cheese flights – think a passport of cheese and wine pairings from the likes of Spain, France and Australia.

Plus, a takeaway coffee window will serve epic cheese toasties, from a classic three cheese and ham to truffled mushroom and gruyere on rye.

AND a walk-in glass-enclosed cheese room serves as a centrepiece for the fromagerie fanatics who want to try all of the things and take the cheese experience home with them. (That would be us. We are the fromagerie fanatics.)

Want to know where to get it? Well, it’s just a short stroll from Brisbane’s Eiffel Tower (La Dolce Vita). Look for the life-sized turquoise cow at the entrance to a heritage-listed building – we could go on, but you’ve probably already opened a new tab to search Google Maps for the exact address. Because cheese. We get it.

Owner and manager Tony Launay will front the operation, which is a culmination of more than a decade’s worth of experience from his hometown in France and venues in England, Spain and Canada.

“This will truly be a first for Brisbane,” says Tony. “Not only will we offer a restaurant, but we’ll also have the more casual bar area and our cheese room, which really will be a mecca for all with a passion for fromage.”
