The first day of November is off to a great start with World Vegan Day! Dating back to 1994, this international day celebrates animal rights and spreads awareness about a vegan lifestyle.

Join the movement and read on for a quick low down on veganism and to find out where you’ll discover some delicious vegan tucker to get amongst this exciting day!

What is veganism? Veganism (also referred to as plant-based) is a diet free from dairy, eggs, meat and anything containing animal-derived ingredients. As well as food, vegans choose to rid their lives of animal products including fashion, beauty, cosmetics and anything else that includes cruelty to animals.

Why do people go vegan? Most people convert to a plant-based diet because of their compassion to animals, some people convert to improve their health and wellbeing and others convert because of their concern for the environment.

People often misinterpret veganism as it’s much more than a diet, it’s a lifestyle change for the better! Believe it or not vegans can eat everything non-vegans eat including pizza, burgers, pasta, toasties, cake, ice cream, chocolate… everything – just an alternative version!

People usually associate veganism with being too difficult and limited but we’re super lucky that more and more vegan options are popping up every single day! Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian or none of the above, everyone can celebrate World Vegan Day with our favourite vegan finds around Brisbane that we’ve complied for you below – you can thank us later!
