Looking for a last hurrah before winter leaves us for another year? We've put together the best of the best Brisbane has to offer in the ultimate comfort food department - porridge! We've eaten our way through the spiced and the creamy, classic oats and ancient grains... and we've found porridge is now a lot more gourmet than the days of The Three Bears...

Sourced Grocer

In celebration of the cooler weather, our favourite whole foods hotspot, Sourced Grocer is serving up a delicious homemade porridge topped with poached quince, organic toasted coconut flakes, Maleny Dairy guernsey cream, and organic Hazelnut sugar made in-house. Don’t be disappointed if the recipe isn’t just right when you pop in, the guys are constantly changing it up depending on what fresh ingredients they can get their hands on. But we can guarantee it's always yummy!

The Depo

One for the health nuts, Depo’s Quinoa porridge with almond milk crystallised walnuts, apple and banana is sweet to taste but completely guilt-free. Perfect for silencing those winter sugar cravings. Oh and the serving is huge! So make sure you’ve got your Papa bear eating pants on.

Harvey’s

Harvey’s is like an old friend that never lets you down - and their oats are just as comforting. Sink into a cosy spot in the sun for the creamy, classic, oat-based porridge with poached rhubarb, blueberries and toasted spiced nuts. Yum!

Anouk Cafe

You won’t find this little gem on the menu, but you may just catch it if you head in before spring hits. Anouk’s creamy spiced oats are nothing short of glorious on a cold day. Served with a citrus caramel sauce and fresh, rich pomegranate, this one is not to be missed!

The Balfour Kitchen

Not only is this one of the best porridges in town but it’s also served in one of the best settings. Relax on the wrap around, typically Queensland veranda at Spicers Balfour as you tuck into the oat and quinoa porridge served with sour cherries, caramelised apple, sugared pistachio and pouring cream - It’s okay, Goldilocks was a little naughty too!
