Blood is thicker than water but maple syrup is thicker than blood so technically pancakes are more important than family, right? Right! You could always make them yourselves but who wants to be messing around with a recipe or shake bottle when you need an instant pancake fix? NO ONE. Luckily for you, we’ve compiled a list of the best pancakes in Brisbane so you can enjoy your pancakes sooner, without any of the washing up!
1. Pablo, New Farm
Ricotta hotcakes with fresh blueberries, smashed honeycomb, homemade pina colada ice cream rolled in a cacoa and coconut crumb with maple syrup. STOP. STOP IMMEDIATELY. We need this in our bellies like five seconds ago, please.
2. Rabbit Hole Café & Bar, Seven Hills
Rabbit Hole serves up a super cute suburban atmosphere as well as delightfully fluffy pancakes. This is simple yumminess at its best, with classic toppings such as maple syrup, fresh cream and icing sugar with your choice of banana, fresh strawberries or bacon.
3. South Side Diner, South Bank
With classic stacks, and blueberry pancakes, you’ve got the basics covered. And then comes the VIOLET CRUMBLE with house-made honeycomb, Nutella sauce and Canadian maple syrup. South Side Diner clearly knows the way to our hearts.
4. Hub Café Kitchen, Ashgrove
Even with a wide range of breakfast options available, it’s hard to go past the timeless hotcakes with maple syrup, seasonal fruit and whipped cream. It’s a classic for a reason. (The reason is because it’s delicious, in case we weren’t clear.)
5. Shouk Café, Paddington
Trying to avoid a sugar coma? Shouk Café has a gluten-free latke stack (Polish potato pancakes, basically) with cream cheese, dill, pickled red onions, dukkah, two poached eggs and your choice of salmon, bacon, avocado or halloumi. This is the potato pancake that you didn’t know you needed in your life.
7. Whisky Business, Capalaba
Buttermilk pancakes strike again! According to one of our Style readers, “The pancakes themselves are suuuuper delicious, not to mention all the toppings.” Cream, strawberry, maple syrup and salted caramel sauce? Hold our heels, we've gotta run to this place.
8. Pancake Manor, Brisbane
If you’ve never ended up at Pancake Manor after a midnight screening or big night out, you may not be able to call yourself a true Brisbanite. Sorry, we don’t make the rules. It’s hard to pick a favourite when you have so many amazing choices, from traditional stacks to magnificent desserts such as Blackforest Cherry, Bavarian Apple, Hot ‘n’ Troppo and Macadamia Madness. You’ll just have to visit again (and again and again) to try them all. Plus, you get to eat in a converted church so it’s a doubly heavenly experience.
9. Billykart Kitchen, Annerley and West End
The buttermilk and ricotta pancakes with coconut caramel banana are just so moreish you won’t be able to stop yourself from mopping up every scrap on the plate. Just a hint of mint cuts through all that deliciousness to add a glorious note of freshness. Enjoy a south side dining experience at the original Billykart in Annerley, or check out their newest location at West End!

The fare at Primal Pantry is 100 per cent paleo and gluten-free, and their beautiful blueberry hot cake with coyo, maple syrup and fruit medley will have you feeling like you’re in paleo paradise.
10. Grub Street, Gaythorne
Grub Street’s menu changes every few months to stay fresh and seasonal but you’re going to have some freaking amazing choices. Check out their Facebook for some of their amazing creations, such as macadamia and white chocolate pancakes with vanilla bean ice-cream, maple syrup and roasted macadamias. Or maybe you fancy strawberry and white chocolate pancakes with couli, vanilla ice-cream and whipped cream? We’ve also heard simply amazing things about their carrot pancakes.
11. Picnic Café, Camp Hill
Buckwheat pancakes – gluten-free, vegan and absolutely delicious with grilled banana, chocolate coconut milk ice-cream, buckinis and maple syrup. You can add bacon for $4.50 to make sure you take out the food pyramid all in one go.
12. Shady Palms, Stones Corner
Another savoury pancake option to make your mouth water! Kimchi, pulled pork, poached eggs, pumpkin and date relish and romesco hollandaise. Because sometimes you just need the comfort of pancakes without the chocolate and maple syrup.
