The Gambaro Group Is Joining Queen’s Wharf’s Stellar Restaurant Lineup

We’ve got the scoop

By Baylee Ganter | 15th May 2024

As the highly anticipated opening of Queen’s Wharf draws near, we, as avid foodies, are waiting with bated breath for the full lineup of restaurants to call the new development home. With the acclaimed Sydney restaurant, Sokyo, joining the party, it makes us wonder what else the team has up their sleeve.

Turns out, it’s one of Brisbane’s most prominent hospitality groups, Gambaro Group. With several successful eateries littered around the city, they’re ready for a new venture and it will take place in Brisbane’s newest and most exciting venues. Black Hide Steak & Seafood By Gambaro will be the largest restaurant on The Terrace, and promises fine-dining and premium service.

This new venture will involve moving the current Black Hide Steakhouse, currently residing in The Treasury since 2018, to the new Queen’s Wharf development upon opening. A well-renowned restaurant since its establishment, Black Hide has been crowned Australia’s Best Steak Restaurant, Restaurant of the Year, and Queensland’s Best Steak Restaurant – what a trophy cabinet! Famous for their world-class Australian Wagyu and Angus steaks, their premium service and exclusive wine selection are what really puts this restaurant above the rest.

Director John Gambaro said he is thrilled to be opening a venue with a new look, while still paying homage to signature and familiar traditions.

“One of the most exciting aspects of our new venue is that we’re bringing along the exceptional team from our existing venue Treasury Brisbane, ensuring a continuing level of guest service excellence,” says Gambaro.

The menu

For loyal fans of the Treasury’s Black Hide, don’t fear, as Gambaro promises the time-tested innovative cooking systems will remain. Guaranteeing the wood-fired charcoal burners and Montague Broiler will continue to infuse dishes with flavour. Though new enhancements to the menu have been made to reflect the scale and calibre of The Star, the main thing on everyone’s mind is the addition of mouthwatering seafood dishes.

The venue

With a new venue comes a new dining room, and this one has been designed to delight. Featuring an open kitchen in the centre of the restaurant, surrounding guests will get to witness the personalized preparation and technique that goes into creating every dish. However, if you’re only in the mood for snacks, the restaurant is also welcoming a cocktail lounge bar. Created for guests to enjoy small plates while overlooking the stunning panoramic views of Brisbane.
