Weekends were made for fun, food and a cheeky wine (or two), so it’s no surprise we’re super excited for the return of the two-day James St Food and Wine Trial on July 30 and 31.
With award-winning restaurants, chefs, boutiques and providores, it’s one of Brisbane’s premier lifestyle precincts – so luxe it will surely be on the Brisbane Monopoly board due out at the end of the year.
You’ll find old favourites and new loves over the two-day trail, as well as deliciously diverse culinary experiences, alfresco dining and live pop-ups.
There’s a lot to take in, so here’s a quick rundown of each day:
SATURDAY, JULY 30
Kickstart your Saturday the healthy way (before the wine and cheese starts!) with a free half-hour infernoFIT class in James Lane followed by a special, healthy breakfast barbecue brunch deal by Pineapple Express.
On Saturday, there will also be some food stalls giving back, with profits from sweet raw treats at Lyla Clare’s pop-up stand going to Black Dog Institute; OzHarvest’s gourmet sausage sizzle will raise funds for various charity groups.
SUNDAY, JULY 31
The street truly comes alive on Sunday for a Sunday Funday like no other!
To celebrate the fifth anniversary, a portion of the street will be closed to traffic for the first time ever, giving guests the rare opportunity to experience alfresco dining under the magnificent promenade of fig trees that envelop the hub of the precinct.
The James St Urban Picnic will be located between McLachlan Street and Robertson Street, with patrons invited to indulge in restaurant-quality street-style fare, tastings and premium pop-up bars from resident James St venues.
Other Sunday highlights include an interactive kids’ zone, two live music stages and a ILVE Pop-Up Kitchen stage where the precinct’s most inspirational chefs will showcase their talent in the fully-equipped ILVE demonstration space.
And of course, there will be after-parties from 6pm at Bucci, Cru Bar, Gerard’s Bar, Harveys, Sixes & Sevens and Tinderbox Kitchen!
