It may look like it’s all fun and games at Style, but we work hard too. So every once in a while we need a little pick-me-up to keep us charging onwards. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of our favourite places for a Friday night coffee hit. It was a tough job but someone had to do it!
The talented boys behind this West End bar certainly know their way around a cocktail. Owner Martin Lange said they decided to drop the kahlua from the mix as their coffee speaks mountains for itself. This is one for the coffee lovers - two parts vodka, one part licor 43, white chocolate, and three parts coffee! Using fresh organic Bear Bones beans, an even blend with a punchy flavour, this cocktail will keep you buzzing all night long.
Public stays true to the first creation – when a tall, beautiful model, debated to be Naomi Campbell or Kate Moss, walked into a bar and asked legendary bartender, Dick Bradsell for a drink that would quote, “wake me up and f*** me up”, resulting in the birth of the Espresso Martini. Shaking up a blend of vodka, kahlua and freshly brewed espresso - strictly no sugar syrup - this is undoubtedly one of the silkiest blends I’ve ever come across. Make sure you ask for Shaky Pete!
We put it to you on Facebook and you answered loud and clear! Cru Bar is our readers’ favourite so we decided to find out why. A mix of Belvedere vodka, kahlua, Hennessey cognac, sugar syrup and Merlo espresso, Cru Bar’s is not for the faint hearted. It’s strong but not hard to knock back in a hurry. And if you’re feeling adventurous, try the Peppermint version.

Sticking to the basics of vodka, kahlua, sugar and coffee, Stokehouse don’t mess with the classic formula. Instead their focus is on getting the balance just right every time. But if you’re in the mood for something left field, spice things up with our favourite, the Mexicano - Patron XO, Belvedere vodka, and espresso.
Not only is this venue one of our favourites, the drinks are amazing too. Everyone behind the bar has a wealth of experience in the hospo industry – which means you can bet every drink you get is going to be perfect. Have your Espresso Martini made with a choice of Belvedere, Patron Silver, Writer’s Tears Whisky or Mt Gay Eclipse, topped up with fresh coffee, a little sweetener and Patron XO Coffee.
Rum, kahlua, licor 43, espresso and chocolate bitters… yum! Not only do they make a killer Espresso Martini but they also infuse their own spirits, with new concoctions and variations regularly added to the list. Manager and part owner Lee Douglas even makes up his own tonic syrup using real quinine for the perfect G&T.
An oldie but a goodie. Laneway is the perfect poky, Brisbane hideaway to sip on something strong! They mix in 40ml dark rum, 20ml Double Dripp coffee liqueur, a double shot of espresso and a little sugar to sweeten, creating a rich, refined taste. If you're not a regular coffee drinker, we recommend sticking to one of these per night - unless you don't want to sleep of course.
