When you think of a happy gathering, a joyous celebration or a special moment in your life, champagne was there for you, right? And if it wasn’t, you wish it had joined the party… am I right? Champagne just has that effect on people; it has the ability to make something special into something extra special and mark some of life’s greatest experiences with a pop of a corked bottle and the million tiny bubbles of happiness that follow.
We know we love it, but apparently Queenslanders are some of the most enthusiastic drinkers in Australia. That very fact has bestowed South East Queensland with a momentous honour: hosting the first ever Australian festival celebrating champagne; Effervescence. Yep, it’s a celebration of celebrations, guys.
And this new information calls for a toast! Pour the champagne!
Like we really need an excuse to pop a bottle of bubbly. As soon as we see the bottle, we’re leaning forward with a glass, ready to partake.
The celebration of all things Champagne (the place) and champagne (the wine) will take place against the glorious blue skies and autumnal-hued hills of Spicers Hidden Vale on the weekend of August 19 to 21.
Effervescence is the brainchild of The Bubble Diva’s Champagne educator Amanda Reboul, who wanted to give champagne lovers, whatever their expertise, the chance to learn and enjoy more.
The festival will offer tastings and masterclasses to guide guests through the different regions and styles of champagne, with representatives from major and smaller family-owned champagne houses to attend, along with champagne experts such as Vin de Champagne award winner David Donald.
On Sunday, there will be a “champagne trail” set over the stunning property, with stations of champagne and three hours of tastings, bread, cheese and charcuterie.
If you did want to make a weekend of it (because champagne), you totally can! Spicers Hidden Vale is one hour from Brisbane and is also offering VIP weekend packages for those who want to stay in luxury and enjoy all the festivities, plus special events for those staying at the lodge! (Click here to find out what – you know you want to!)
Effervescence, the unique celebration of everything champagne, is set to be an annual event with a limited number of tickets on sale now from $120pp and expected to sell quickly.
