Kapow! A Superhero-Inspired Bar And Eatery Opens In The Valley

The bar that Brisbane deserves

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s the Valley’s latest joint that’s set to be a smashing good time.

1st Edition is Brisbane’s new bar and restaurant inspired by the action-packed world of comics. It’s one for the books, offering a theatrical dining experience tucked away in California Lane from the brains (and self-confessed comic nerds) behind Baja, Destino, and Bam Bam Restaurant, Marc Grey, and Chef Steve Maiden.

Dishing up a fusion feast that Alfred would be proud to serve, the menu of shareable bites is predominantly Asian with influences of Mexican, American, and French cuisine. Dig like Wolverine into cheeseburger gyoza with kimchi tomato, spanner crab with burnt butter emulsion, or the MB 7 Wagyu with bacon bordelaise and burnt cream, as Batman keeps a watchful eye from the graffiti-ed walls.

Like Spiderman’s web, the drinks are sure to catch your attention, from the Ninja Turtle Negroni with salami-infused Campari to the Dr Strange – an anti-fountain cocktail.

With only 22 seats in the creative den, a table here is more exclusive than Tony Stark’s mansion. 1st Edition will offer three 90-minute seatings each evening and bookings are a must.

1st Edition opens on Friday 26 November, Wednesday to Saturday. Book here.
