The Style Team Unpack Our Highlights (And Everything We Can't Wait To Get Our Hands On) From MBFWA 2018

Ready for the wardrobe update, TBH.

You’d have to be taking up residence under a rock to not have noticed all the genius that was going on at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week last week. From the new-season collections being paraded down the runway, to the trends emerging on the street, we knew MBFWA was going to be good, we just didn’t realise it would be this good!

Yet still, there were a few key collections that stood out. Here, the Style team detail our highlights from MBFWA.

Kathryn Edmonds, Content Marketing Account Manager

I loved the Camilla and Marc collection and it’s beautifully rich, earthy colour palette - STUNNING! Their stage installation was super cool, too.

Sophie Benstead, Designer

I loved Alice McCall’s nod to the 60s, with fresh, punchy colours and daisy-inspired lace. I’m obsessed with the layered textures and rows upon rows of frills! I need to get my hands on one of those round bags, immediately!

I can’t get enough of We Are Kindred’s feminine styles and divine prints. I Ioved the printed broderie anglaise, which I think is going to be one of the key trends for the season ahead.

Emmy-Lou McKean, Digital Journalist

My standouts were P.E Nation launching their menswear - so god damn cool (and yes, I’ll probs end up wearing the guy's stuff haha) and I also loved the Double Rainbouu show at The Landsdowne - both edgy and a bit different to the usual shows.

Kiri Johnston, Digital Content Coordinator

One of the highlights for me this year is definitely the Camilla show, which wrapped up MBFWA. The latest collection is inspired by Japan and so was the show, with flowing confetti, walls covered in the trademark Camilla prints and cherry blossom trees. Plus, the adorable kids who closed the show – so cute! The whole production was unreal and reminded me of a Victoria’s Secret show!

For me, it doesn’t get better than Camilla and Marc. It had been five years since the brother-sister duo’s last MBFWA show, and boy was it worth the wait! From the out-of-this-world (literally) set to the timeless yet bold looks we saw on the runway, the whole production was the perfect fit to open the week. I’m looking forward to adding exaggerated sleeves and insanely-oversized bags to my wardrobe.

Siobhan Taylor, Digital Journalist

I have been a big fan of Karla Špetić for a minute now so her runway showcase was particularly exciting for me. I love how she chose to put the spotlight on how our plastic-addiction is endangering our marine life. I also really loved the MacGraw runway show! As one of my absolute favourite Australian brands, I am always excited to see what they develop. From the soundtrack (The Crystals and Iggy Azalea – what a winning combo) to the vibrant colours and playful silhouettes, it was all a standout for me.
