A mere two seasons away from our sun-drenched city and to the snow-sprinkled streets of New York, the fashion elite flocked to get their first peek at the new collection from the world’s most favourite all-American clothing line, Tommy Hilfiger.
Attendees could have been mistaken for thinking they were spending the morning in Aspen as they watched on as models meandered through a runway of powdered snow, fir trees and ski chalets at the Alpine themed ski-resort set.
Hilfiger’s contemporary yet traditional exploration of the Great American outdoors took on adventure - mixing mountaineering apparel, hiking rope and bungee cord detailing to an already sporty brand. The show delivered the perfect accompaniment to a collection doused in rich, warm fabrics and complemented the previously released campaign story - Cärpe-Díem Mañana, which arrives on Australian shores for the Southern Hemisphere's Autumn/Winter seasons next month.
The campaign, now in its seventh season, follows Chloe - the youngest of the Hilfiger clan, as she moves away to start college life with an array of preppy, Ivy League characters in tow. The campaign images depict campus living, set on the grounds of the university and within the dorm rooms.
The prototypical cast of college characters include the "Natty Professor," the "A-Student," the "Bookworm," the "Ice Queen," the "Apres Dude," the "Professional Student," the "Social Chair," the "Field Tripper," the "Alum Prez," the "Teacher's Pet" and the "All American."
Synonymous with a Gossip Girl advertisement, the students wear an assortment of techni-colour plaid, houndstooth and striped patterning, teamed with an abundance of wintry textures such as denim, cashmere, mohair and plush velveteen and infused with eclectic pops of burnt orange, classic maroon and traditional navy.
In the lead-up to our very own Autumn/Winter season, this collection captures the ultimate embodiment of Hilfiger’s signature heritage style: beanies, bombers and blazers.
