The Style Edit: What We’re Spending Our Paychecks On This Autumn
CHA CHING
By Bianca Licina | 20th March 2025Welcome to the Shopaholics Club, a club where we online shop for a living and spend our paychecks before the day is out. At Style, we struggle to refrain from buying those things we absolutely must have, and boy, have we been hard at work! With the change of season coming in hot, we are gearing up for holidays, wardrobe updates, and just general necessities (yes, mugs and candles are necessities).
Whether we’ve pulled the trigger or the products are patiently waiting in our carts, here’s what some of the Stylers are loving atm.
Love them too? We don’t blame you. Go on – click add to cart!

Lately, all I’ve been wearing are monochromes and green, so I’m leaning into accessories that add dimension and edge. Bassike’s layered utility belt does exactly that, with its mini skirt-style silhouette, adjustable D-rings, and signature raw hems—whether slung over jeans or cinched around a mini dress, it’s a statement-maker. I’m also swapping dainty jewellery for chunky, handmade pieces like Simuero’s Uva ring, crafted from recycled sterling silver and set with a one-of-a-kind green prehnite stone. And to top it off, Christopher Esber’s East-West Gondola tote—crafted in Spain from Italian leather with sharp triangular edges and elongated straps—has become my go-to. The soft khaki works like a neutral, and it fits everything I need.

I am unfortunately in a much-needed mindful spending era… BUT I am two minor stresses away from treating myself with these bad boys from my wishlist. First, a sadistic literary escape. Because I can’t seem to get enough of my own tragic love life, I will seek more drama in the cult queer disco-decadent classic Dancer from the Dance by Andrew Holleran. Second, these lush emerald Camper Walden loafers that have been antagonising me for what feels like years. And, finally, IF I was looking to better adorn myself this chilly season, it’d have to be with this cheeky little Marimekko Astrilli Unikko scarf.

With winter on its way, I’m definitely on the lookout for new jackets that will last – cue this Dissh leather jacket. Paired with these Saint Laurent sunnies, I can’t think of a better way to front the fresh mornings headed our way. Oh, and not to mention the Anthropologie croissant glasses for morning juice (not pictured: the other colours I already own).

Full transparency: I have already bought all these products but now is my chance to rave about them. First, my new sneakers. Now, I’m no sneakerhead and tend to steer clear of them altogether, but I decided to give dark sneakers a go. And I must say, I am obsessed with my New Balance 740s. Perfect for my hot girl walks, my weights sessions, and, of course, fashion, I am certainly getting the cost per wear up. Secondly, my birthday gift this year was the Dyson Airstrait. As a strictly straight-haired girly, this has been a total game-changer for me, especially as someone who isn’t great at hair styling. Doubling as a hair dryer as well as a straighter, it’s the handiest hair tool I’ve ever had – 100% recommend. Did I mention it’s also on sale at David Jones? Finally, micro shorts are hot right now and I’ve been searching for a pair that isn’t too short, but is still ‘micro’. These grey/green shorts from Sir are divine! Thinking I’ll pair them with sheer tights for winter – stay tuned!

As much as I don’t want to admit summer is over, looking for new pieces to fill out my autumn/winter wardrobe has got me really excited. This season, I’m leaning into a light-wash grey and dark chocolate brown palette. Hardly revolutionary but I can’t wait to get my hands on these Henne Netta Jeans when they’re back in stock. I’ll be pairing them with the Seed button knit vest in Oat Marle and the Oroton Mica Mini Bowler.

This week, I’m using my paycheck to invest in a little joy. First up, I’m treating myself to a sound healing bowl. Have I tried it? Yes. Am I about to start conducting it? You bet. Neighbours, prepare for some interesting sounds coming from my place! Secondly, with the arrival of autumn, I’m also craving a cosy outfit for Sunday brunch with friends. That’s why I’m splurging on Frankies Bikinis’ 70s stripe knitted set – it’s just chef’s kiss. Finally, a girl can only dream (and save), but I’ve been digging the mule sneaker trend, and these New Balance x Mui Mui mules are everything. I fear I would conquer the world in these shoes – just saying!

If there are two things that moving jobs AND cities has taught me, it’s that have nowhere near enough vibey home decor and that my wardrobe needs a serious overhaul. So welcome to a very small portion of my recent wishlist. This Yves Saint Laurent coffee table book is to absolutely DIE for. The images inside are gorgeous and it makes for the perfect statement living room piece. This Dissh top has been sitting in my cart for weeks now (definitely will be pulling the trigger soon) but I’m obsessed with it and good for a girl who’s trying to incorporate more strapless tops into her fits. Lastly, I’ve been so obsessed with sneakers recently and slowly but surely adding to the collection. These Speziels are my next buy for sure.

Hello autumn – my favourite season of them all! Cue the rich and darker hues and thicker fabrics, chunky knits and oversized blazers. A new scent is a must for a new season, and for the slick back bun girlies – the base camp beauty brush will be your new best friend. My paycheck will be going to many boring things like rent and bills however, there’ll be room for a little fun and these are my top five contenders for the ‘treat yourself’ behaviour!

I love reading, especially as I wind down from a busy week. I can’t wait to sink my teeth into The Seven by Chris Hammer. An Australian murder mystery set over the early 1900s, the 90s and today! I love the brand Aveeno and they have just released a new skincare range, so I want to give that a go. And let’s be honest, who does not love a great lipstick, so I have just bought this beautiful colour from Chanel. Mwah!

If you’re a male looking to add some more staples to your wardrobe these three could be the ones for you. Starting off with a brand I came across while in Melbourne is LERROI. I found their white short-sleeved shirt which I had to grab. I either wear this unbuttoned with a white or black singlet underneath or buttoned up – whatever I’m feeling. Jewellery is such an easy way to dress up your outfit. I couldn’t find a men’s bracelet that I really liked until I came across this Diesel silver steel bracelet. It’s different but also quite minimal – such a classy but stylish touch to your outfit. Lastly, my go-to cologne right now is Burberry Hero. It has a classic cedar smell that is kicked up a notch with spice and citrus smells. Perfect for making a statement without being too overpowering. So, if you can put some of your paychecks aside for this trio, I would highly recommend it, gents!
