The Summer of Terry Towelling

Towels have never looked so good!

ICYMI: summer’s unofficial outfit is the humble terrycloth. And while we’re all familiar with the soft and cosy joy of wrapping up in a towel post-swim, some brands are going one step further by making the comfy fabric totally wearable, and seriously stylish.

As spotted in international runway shows from the likes of Pucci, Prada and Peter Pilotto, the textured trend is having a major resurgence, making it a staple summer must-have in pastels, prints, and playful silhouettes.

It’s been a hot minute since this iconic vacation vibe was on the agenda, with the fabric last seen hogging the spotlight in the 70s, worn on tanned limbs along the rocky beach clubs of the Côte d’Azur. But as we all know, fashion comes back around, and this lounge-in-style look is set to take you from the beach, to the bar, and well into summer in vintaged-inspired hues of bright coral and soft, muted lemon.

Take inspirations from European summers and retro American poolside attire – think Goldfinger scenography and Slim Aaron’s photography.

From jumpsuits, to shorts, wrap skirts, boxy button-ups and bucket hats, let this versatile texture take you on a ride. Making no compromises on comfort, this is what you can expect to be wearing all summer long.
