Paul Johnston | 50 | General Manager, Style Magazines
What is it like working in an office dominated by female fashionistas?
I don’t find it difficult at all! Usually they are coming to me for fashion advice. I do what I can!
How would you describe your style?
Quirky with a touch of glamour. Style is all about your personality and I ooze it!
Your colleagues have described you as a young Bruce Willis. Who is your celebrity style icon?
I really admire our Prime Minister, Tony Abbott’s guts to rock the speedo. You really can’t go past a nice pair of Budgie Smugglers and any man who is comfortable enough to wear them is a style icon of mine.
Have you ever entered Fashions on the Field?
Do you follow any fashion rules?
No. There are no rules! I just click the heels of my red loafers together three times and feel at home in pretty much every outfit.
What do you like to wear on the weekends?
I like a comfortable pair of jeans with the loudest shirt I can find in my wardrobe. Hawaii is nice all year round, am I right?
What’s your favourite thing about Brisbane?
I’m all about the vast cultural experiences on offer in our great city. Espresso martinis at The Kitty, Tahitian rum punch at Alfred & Constance, apple whiskeys at Lefty’s or a Pipsqueak pear cider at Sixes and Sevens… and of course, Patrón shots at Casablanca.
Do you have any fashion advice for guys heading into a female dominated industry?
It is important to always stand out and give the girls a run for their money! More is more in my books.
Do you prefer:
Boxers or briefs? Commando.
Short back and sides or a little scruffy? I am rocking the hair free look at the moment. Bald is beautiful!
Smart suits or cool casual? Definitely cool casual, I am the King of Cool!
