How To Rock Socks and Sandals

German tourists do it; your dad does it. Leila Amirparviz and Madeleine Murdoch from LAMM show us how to rock socks and sandals. The right way.

The past few seasons have seen omitted fashion faux pas rising to prominence once again.

The revival of trendy trainers and Canadian tuxedos may not have been wholly embraced just yet (boy do we love them!) but one trend that is assured to weasel its way into a fashionista’s wardrobes is the globally feared combination of socks and sandals. Yep; socks. And. Sandals.

A look made iconic by German tourists worldwide, the SnS trend is practical for a climate such as Brisbane where is it rare to see tight-covered legs or heavy winter stompers. If you are still skeptical about how to work this into your wardrobe, we think we might just be able to change your mind.

Check out our guide to doing it right - from quirky to chic, we’ve got all areas covered thanks to the super cool chicks and kicks at Maryon's.

Classic Confidence

Stripy socks with baubles sandles

Gold Bauble Sandals, $970, Sonia Rykiel;
Vintage Check Socks

Rock these festive baubles all year round by playing with proportions. A sleek black pant paired with an oversized knit or crisp white shirt will keep a happy balance between playful and professional.

Rainbow Power!

Spotty leopard print socks with coloured t-bar sandals

Patent T-Bar Sandals, $550, Kenzo;
 Gorman x Kit archive Collection Socks

This is not one for the faint-hearted! Perfect with your favourite jeans and a plain cotton tee or pump up the jam and pair these super sandals back with a clash of bold prints and colours - just be sure to keep similar tones throughout.

Sweet As Pie

Pink spotty socks with neutral tan coloured strappy wedges

Robert Clergerie Hi Fabric Plato Wedge $795; Pink Dot Socks $9, Topshop

For ultimate seventies glam, rock these platforms with a wide leg flare and lamé knit or tone it down with a pastel party dress or print separates.

It’s Business Time…

Block colour socks with black wedge sandals

Robert Clergerie Textured Hi Wedge $850; Sheer Colour Socks $14, Bonds

It’s time to pull your pinstripe out of the vac pack and rock those shoulder pads like nobody's business. Think Al Pacino in Scarface but with one very strict rule - absolutely no fedoras (gangster or otherwise) allowed.
