While the peplum design from yesteryear resembled UFOs with their wide berths capable of hiding a small child, today’s peplum tops and dresses are subtle, flattering, and structured. Cinched at the waist before flaring out to create a hanging frill, the iconic trend of the ‘10s has received a very 2024-friendly makeover (like leopard print).
Leaning on impeccable tailoring, the peplum silhouette has been making an appearance across red carpets and runways since last year – proving that persistence pays off. And, honestly, we’re not as mad about it as we thought we’d be. As long as you balance the proportions, the peplum waistline is (dare we say) an elegant look.
