For a business that only started in August 2014, Mallow & Thyme has rocketed from insider secret to A-list success, with the jewellery pieces crafted by 19-year-old Toowoomba girl Tiona Pemberton shown at the 2015 Oscars gifting ceremony and spotted on celebrities on the street.
“Staring into shiny crystals, I grew up as a little earth child,” Tiona explains. Adding that her fascination with crystals and rocks started early on, while spending time with her dad at quarries and fossicking mines.
Tiona’s label Mallow & Thyme, which features crystals, stones and various other objects that embody power, positive energy and good vibes, started as a hobby for the local designer, but quickly grew into an in-demand business.
“Mallow & Thyme to me now seems like something that was destined to manifest. It started as a hobby in which I was able to take some time out from uni and express my creative abilities… but it became apparent early on that the jewellery was appreciated by many other people and the business grew extremely quickly,” she says.
Earlier this year Tiona attended the 2015 Oscars gifting event after receiving an invitation to present her Mallow & Thyme pieces, as one of just 50 shortlisted businesses and sponsors. She has since had Vanessa Hudgens, as well as Ashlee Simpson and her partner Evan Ross all treasuring their Mallow & Thyme pieces.
Tiona says, that while her creations have become popular among high profile celebs, she likes that most people can afford her jewellery and that each piece is one of a kind; a true treasure for its owner and gifted with all of her love.
The crystals and stones used within the Mallow & Thyme range are sourced from all around the world, including higher quality crystals from Brazil and Africa.
Tiona says when she thinks of where it all started almost nine months ago and her intentions for the label, it makes her feel so humbled and excited for the future and she cannot wait to see how it will continually grow.
When asked if there was one person she was itching to see in one of her Mallow & Thyme pieces, she's quick to respond: “Miranda Kerr!”
“She seems to embody and represent a lot of qualities of the label, especially honouring yourself, your body and mind and we love how crystals have the ability to heal and bring out great things in people,” she says.
