It’s that time of year again. Time for the international racing scene to gather on the Gold Coast for the glamorous Jeep Magic Millions Carnival. Their annual raceday is an event permanently penned into my summer diary, as it offers far more than just races and equine sales.
Magic Millions racedays also comes with the excitement of rubbing shoulders with the racing elite. I was lucky enough to meet the regal, Zara Philips, racing expert, Francesca Cumani and the stylish Kate Waterhouse in previous years, who are all returning this January.
But my favourite part is seeing every guest all frocked up in the Magic Millions Moet & Chandon VIP Marquee on the raceday, celebrating all things racing fashion. If you’re looking to make strides on the fashion track this year, here’s a few of my top tips.
While the Gold Coast fashion standards may lend to a more relaxed dress code than interstate racedays, there are ways to ensure a cool and relaxed look is also a stylish one.
The day, like many on the Gold Coast during summer, is generally scorching hot (even with the majority of marquees being air-conditioned). I suggest going for natural fibres in your outfit choices to keep it light.
A feminine dress covering your shoulders with a hemline higher than your knee will be classic and suitable for the weather. Alternatively, a short playful pantsuit is on my style radar this year. Top that off with a simple headpiece or fascinator that allows for up-dos of long hair to achieve a trendy look, that’s still full of sophistication.
Hosted on Saturday January 10 at the Gold Coast Turf Club, the raceday will also welcome the Myer Carpet arrivals, host the Fashions on the Field Parade and provide plenty of music and entertainment. See you there!
