The leather pencil skirt – I think it’s got to be the ultimate staple piece. The versatility of this bad boy makes it suitable for office, drinks with the girls, on location at a shoot, or at a client meeting. Wear it with Cons or throw on a sexy heel and lace for evening… the combos are endless.
The Carla Zampatti leatherette ‘Pencil Me In’ skirt is my pick of the season and I have been absolutely thrashing it! I could have easily come up with 50 looks, but here are five quick ones - featuring new season pieces from some of our fashion forward friends on James Street.
Firstly, props to the bloggers for their ability to make the ‘no pose’ pose look easy, because believe me, it’s not! For this look, the classic collared shirt gets a simple update in this beautiful cornflower blue from Equipment. I’m absolutely drooling over this Givenchy bag from Maryon’s (and so are all the gals in the Style office). Shoe wise: for a desk to dinner look, I’ve paired the skirt with some old favourites - but if I were running around on a photo shoot, my faithful white Converse or Adidas would do the trick.
A take on a winter classic, this look layers a simple white shirt with a luxe cable knit. I’m loving this neutral tone paired with the dramatic pitch black skirt. For warmer days, I’d opt for a roll neck sleeveless knit in a similar grey/blue tone. The whole outfit is finished off perfectly with these gorgeous skater shoes by Tods; so versatile and fun!
This shearling parka from Sea is the ultimate winter jacket. It’s actually two pieces in one with a heavy outer jacket that’s perfect for interstate trips or the odd really cold day in Bris. I’ve removed the outer to expose the luxurious long line wool vest underneath. The shoes are by none other than Alexander Wang - how hot are these khaki numbers?!
I love a bomber and the bright colour and linen texture of this MSGM beauty makes for the perfect contrast with the skirt’s smooth leather. I don’t mind a bit of pattern clashing, so I’ve teamed it with this snake print clutch for a subtle statement. These patent Sophia Webster heels will take me seamlessly from work to drinks with clients or the girls - the heel is Killer.
I’m an Adidas nut so I couldn’t do five looks without bringing one of my fave brands into the mix. I’m vertically challenged (READ: short ass) so the chunky sneaker may be a little heavy for me, but I just couldn’t go past Isabel Marant high tops to finish off this sporty look – and the hidden wedge gives me a little lift … yay!
That was fun, look forward to bringing you more soon x
