JD Sports – offering the freshest kicks this side of Melbourne –has officially opened at Pacific Fair on the Gold Coast and the store does not disappoint. The brand opened its first Australian store at Melbourne Central earlier this year and has since announced further expansion across the country.
JD Sports can be found in “The Resort” precinct at Pacific Fair alongside retailers such as Uniqlo and h&m.
The store offers the latest product from brands such as Nike, adidas, Lacoste, Reebok and Puma. The choice is overwhelming, and shoppers will be exposed to exclusive products that are not available at other stores.
Retailer extraordinaire Hilton Seskin, the man behind JD Sports and Glue Store, sees Pacific Fair as more than just a shopping centre.
“Pacific Fair is a destination in itself,” he says. “People can come to the shopping centre and know that they can make a day of it.”
He has seen the luxe sportswear trend develop into a lifestyle over the years, and feels JD Sports will be well-received on the coast.
“JD Sports is a true global retailer delivering the latest trends to customers by bringing exclusive product that has never been seen in Australia,” Hilton says.
“They have the biggest offering of adidas Originals NMD. Fifty per cent of apparel and footwear stocked is exclusive to the JD store. The store is set to create hype and act ahead of the game when it comes to catering to the needs of customers.”
Hilton monitored social media trends and visits to the JD website before settling on the location for his second Australian store. “The Gold Coast is ready,” he says.
On opening day, Hilton was wearing a dark blazer and jeans paired with fresh white sneakers. He says he is a huge fan of the sports lifestyle look.
“It’s all about lifestyle,” he says.
Fresh kicks have become a massive street-style trend for women and men.
“I think it’s great,” Hilton says. “It’s important that people feel comfortable in their own skin.”
But choosing the right pair of sneakers for an outfit can be overwhelming. Hilton’s hot tip: a fresh white or silver sneaker will go with anything.
