Why A Road Trip To The Gold Coast Is Everything Your Summer Wardrobe Needs

Why A Road Trip To The Gold Coast Is Everything Your Summer Wardrobe Needs

Did someone say ‘shopping spree’?

Now that winter has finally come and gone, it’s time to focus on a few key things; summer fashion, beach trips, sunshine, and holidays. And because the weather is ridiculously good right now, we’re thinking it could be time for a well-deserved road trip to the Gold Coast for a day of sun and surf, as well as a shopping spree at Harbour Town Outlet Shopping Centre!

Harbour Town is home to more than 240 stores including all the big name brands you love (think Michael Kors, Polo Ralph Lauren, Coach, Hugo Boss, Oroton), and better still, you can get your hands on all your favourite brands for up to 70% off the recommended retail price, every day of the week.

So, to help you on your journey towards a new summer wardrobe, we’ve compiled a list of must-have items for the season. From handbags and clothes to shoes, swimwear, and accessories, we think we’ve covered all the bases for you this summer.

A White Summer Dress

Harbour Town

Ah, the white dress. Quintessentially Queensland, a white dress is an absolute must-have this summer. Pair with a wedge for an afternoon soirée or bejewelled sandals for a day of shopping with the girls. In terms of styles, we love a longer line dress in light, airy materials like linen and cotton – super cool and comfortable, and perfect for the scorcher of a summer that is headed for us here in Queensland.

So, where should you shop for a white summer dress? Check out Tigerlily, Kookai, Tommy Bahama and Seed Heritage, just to name a few.

Wide-Leg Pants

If you’re not a fan of dresses this summer, a wide-leg pair of pants is an essential item for you. Available in a plethora of colours, styles and fabrics, a wide-leg pant is super chic and a great transeasonal item.

Cotton and linen reign supreme in the fabric stakes again, but you could even opt for a crepe or chiffon fabric for something a little more luxe.

A playsuit is potentially the most versatile item you can have in your wardrobe this summer. Going to the beach? Throw a playsuit on over your bikini. Heading out for dinner with the girls? Pair your playsuit with a summery wedge and you’re good to go. Having a shopping day? Wear a playsuit and a pair of flats for complete and utter comfort. Basically, no matter the occasion, you can never go wrong with a playsuit.

So when you head to Harbour Town, stop by stores like Cue, Bardot, Catalog or Seed Heritage.

A Designer Handbag

No matter the season, you simply can’t go past a designer handbag. At Harbour Town Outlet Shopping Centre you can get your hands on the designer bag you’ve been eyeing off for months, without the hefty price tag.

Yes – you read that correctly.

From shopper totes, shoulder and cross-body bags, to clutches, pouches and belt bags, there are so many stunning designer bags on offer across the retailers like Furla, Michael Kors, Coach, Oroton, Kate Spade and Mimco. Our tip for this season? Opt for a statement, block-coloured handbag to ensure longevity.

The time has come to give our winter boots the flick and pop on our summer sandals. Whether you’re spending the day at the beach, attending an event or simply having a day of shopping, sandals are oh-so-functional.

Check out Nine West, Novo, Windsor Smith and Betts.

What would summer be without swimwear? Pretty darn boring, if you ask us. Whether you’re a fan of the one-piece or prefer a bikini, now is the perfect time to find your summer swimsuit.

For a wide variety of swimwear options to suit all tastes and body shapes, pop into Tigerlily, Seafolly, Bikini Island, Rip Curl and City Beach.

No summer outfit would be complete without sunglasses. Here in Queensland, our UV rays are off the charts during summer, so we gotta’ protect our eyes. Yeah? But, high-quality sunglasses can be expensive. We get it. Which is why heading down the coast and shopping at Harbour Town is such a great idea!

Sunglass Hut and Oakley are just two stores in the centre that have a range of good-quality, sun-safe glasses, for a fraction of the price.

The Gold Coast is the number one (and potentially money-saving) shopping destination for you and your gal pals or significant other this weekend – so hit the road and get shopping!
