BlackMilk Clothing will release an entire collection in collaboration with Russian-born urban and grunge artist Lora Zombie on August 2. Set your alarms for 9am and get those credit cards ready!

BlackMilk Clothing began with one pair of leggings made on founder and head designer James Lillis’ kitchen table in Brisbane in 2009. Fast forward to 2016 and the company now ships worldwide to more than 200 countries, has 1.7 million social media fans and employs close to 200 people.

BlackMilk has previously collaborated with Shingo Shichigoro (Japan), Gino Burman-Loffredo (USA) and James Patrick (Australia) on various pieces, but this is the first time they have EVER created an entire collection in collaboration with an artist. And that special artist is the glorious Lora Zombie!

The Russian-born artist first gained recognition in the late 2000s, and rapidly grew in popularity as her work spread through social media. Soon, she had achieved cult status, a position not unlike that of global online phenomenon BlackMilk Clothing. She is renowned for her unique style, which blends cartoon imagery and pop culture iconography with grungy street elements.

Lora Zombie says she is longstanding fan of BlackMilk Clothing and jumped at the opportunity to collaborate with the brand.

“Around three years ago, I saw this amazing dress online with pills printed all over it, and immediately tried to find out where I could buy it.

“Once I found out it was BlackMilk, and saw all the other cool prints they had, I was hooked,” she says.

Lora Zombie’s limited-edition BlackMilk collection is comprised of 11 printed pieces featuring her hyper-colourful artworks, including two brand-new designs created exclusively for the collaboration.
BlackMilk Clothing founder and head designer James Lillis says the brand has long been waiting to work with Lora Zombie.

“Lora’s artwork draws on a number of different influences – pop culture, animals, mythology and lots of bright colours mixed with a darker, edgier side.
“These influences have always been a huge part of BlackMilk’s culture as well, and we are very excited to bring her artwork to life,” he says.

The Lora Zombie x BlackMilk Clothing collection will be available to purchase online via the BlackMilk Clothing website from Tuesday, August 2 at 9am. 9AM, PEOPLE!

Credit cards at the ready! You can also check out BlackMilk Cloth’s Pinterest board for a peek at the collection before it goes live.
