The 3 Frames Every It-Girl Has In Her Wardrobe

The 3 Frames Every It-Girl Has In Her Wardrobe

Turn around, bright eyes.

As much as we love a flouncy new dress or a killer set of heals, there is no item in our wardrobe that warrants as many compliments as much as our glasses. While some of this could be pinned down on the fact that, as they are in the centre of our face, they are a bit hard to miss, we think that a stellar set of frames will always attract notice.

A well-chosen pair of frames has the ability to completely change your look or update an outfit. From minimalist opticals to pastel-hued lenses, there are so many trends to play with. Whether you’re new to the glasses gang, searching for the next addition to your collection, or just want some styling advice, we’ve put together three must-have frames that everyone should have in their wardrobe arsenal.

If you love any of the frames below, be sure to visit Madonna Rigney Optometry for all the latest styles.

Sass and Bide Dream scene dress, $490; Seed Soft pant, $119.95; Shopbop - Staud Bissett bag, $477.78; The Iconic - Top Shop Gala sculpted heels, $119.95; Madonna Rigney - Face A Fade Black and white frames, $715; Madonna Rigney - Caroline Abram Black and tan frames, $545

Whether you’re working the boardroom, tackling a deadline, managing your team or gunning for a promotion, your 9-5 look should be one that makes you feel confident and in control. Opting for a statement-making set of frames (such as these Face A Fade frames with white accents) will allow you to showcase your personality and individuality while still looking office apropos!

For an on-trend look, opt for thin metal frames and geometric shapes. As the trend du jour, they are an easy way to make a chic-update to your work look. The structured shape of these Caroline Abram frames makes it the perfect day-to-day set that will see you from the boardroom to the bar. Simply throw on some lippy and you’re ready for Friday drinks!

Of course, office wear doesn’t end with your glasses. Complement the clean lines of your frames with structured, tailored trousers pared back with a voluminous and ethereal-esque blouse. Throw on an easy yet smart-looking pair of mules and a bucket bag and you’re ready for that promotion.

Net A Porter - Lisa Marie Fernandez Erica ruffled broderie anglaise cotton mini dress, $675; The Iconic - Samantha Wills Oasis hoop earrings, $149; Moda Operandi - Dolce & Gabbana Embellished canvas and patent-leather sandals, $1,310; Madonna Rigney - Caroline Abram Wanda blue frames, $545; Madonna Rigney - Caroline Abram Wise black frames, $545; Madonna Rigney - Kaleos sunglasses $550

When the weekend rolls around (especially now that spring is on our doorstep), we find ourselves gravitating towards flirty silhouettes, bold accessories and dreamy colour palettes. We like to imagine that our ‘weekend alter ego’ is catching up with friends over a cheese board, enjoying an Aperol spritz, and generally basking in the spectacular spring evening.

This season, colour-tinted lenses are the go-to style for statement-making glasses. This dreamy set by Kaleos opts for frames in a retro-yet-geometric shape with pink-hued lenses, perfect for Sunday brunch or window-shopping. Experimenting with coloured frames is another fun way to bring colour into your glasses this season. This pair from Caroline Abram pairs the classic round-frame shape with understated pink accents for a style that just screams “spring picnic”.

Dress these frames up with your favourite summer dress (eyelet lace and ruffles are always recommended), clunky jewellery and a comfortable set of heels that make you feel just as good as you look.

Net A Porter - Dolce & Gabbana Ruffled stretch-cady mini dress, $1395; Mon Purse Grainy leather bucket bag, $249; Zomp - Django & Juliette Niridan, $170; Madonna Rigney - Caroline Abram Black frames, $545; Madonna Rigney - Caroline Abram Tan frames, $495; Madonna Rigney - Garett Leight Gold frames, $480

Whether you’re meeting the girls for dinner, running errands, or catching up over coffee, a minimalist set of frames is perfect for all those other activities you get up to. Consider these your throw-on-and-go set!

We love to have a few different pairs in a range of neutral colours such as tan, gold and blush. Dual-toned frames (such as this set from Caroline Abram) are easy to style with any outfit, while the larger-frame shape means your eye makeup won’t get lost in the mix. For a playful update to our look, we love the retro shape of these tan Caroline Abram frames. Alternatively, the classic shape of these Garrett Leight glasses makes them a timeless set that will never go out of style. Plus, the double-bridge slims the nose and centre of your face, which is a welcome feature.

Throw on a loose-fitting dress, a comfortable set of block heels and your favourite handbag, and you’re ready to go tackle your to-do list! Or enjoy a long lunch with friends... Both are good options.
