After returning from a month of gallivanting around Europe and the UK (not bragging, I promise), there was one very apparent style trend slithering into sight in each city: snakeskin.

From the UK high-street to Barcelona’s designer stores, snakeskin is set to be the next leopard-print and you’ve heard it here first. The jungle cats have handed over the fashion throne to their prey and we’re not mad about it.

Like most great things (ie. wine, food and fashion), Europe tends to lead the way and snakeskin was everywhere to be seen, shedding its skin from city to city. From bangin’ boots to flouncy blouses, the print is taking over. As the Euro summer is in full swing, snakeskin swimwear was the most prominent form of the trend, so get ready to see some water snakes on our shores.

As Australia is native to some of the most poisonous snakes, it only seems fair for us to flaunt the best of the style trend, so slither on in and be ahead of the game this season by taking the first bite. Australian retailers such as Sheike, Witchery, Cue and Tony Bianco are already hitting the mark with a range of coloured snakeskin patterns showcasing their scales in wintery reds, browns and greens.
