During 2013, HAN debuted to critical acclaim at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia after only being founded for one year. Now an Australian fashion label that has established a distinct sophistication with classic and transcending pieces that withstand the test of time, HAN is a label to take note of.
Khim’s love of fashion and desire to learn the craft was initially sparked by a shirt given to him by his father when he was 13 years old - one that he still wears to this day.
Citing fashion industry luminary David Bush, the former General Manager of Buying for powerhouse David Jones as his creative mentor, this Brisbanebased designer also draws inspiration from the most basic and purest of forms.
Khim notes the label’s men’s and women’s collections promote the chic found in simplicity, with the design ethos promoting performance and longevity.
“HAN becomes skin that resonates the craftsmanship and character of your maker within its seams and binds. What’s even more promising are the qualities left behind as it carries the burden of age with integrity,” he says.
The Fall 14 ‘Skins’ collection is out now, inspired by sportswear and its concept as a second skin. The collection works on a muted colour palette of black, white and grey and experiments with innovative techniques including pieces cut as one and sewn together without seams.
The new Spring 14 ‘Cyan’ collection is due to be released in August.
