The Chunky Heels You Need in Your Life Right Now

The Chunky Heels You Need in Your Life Right Now

Say goodbye to sneakers and stilettos as we slip our feet into chunky, clunky heels this season.

Look, don’t get me wrong: I love sneakers. I love treating my feet to the cushiony goodness of Stan Smiths. But I’m really excited about the fact that designers are gradually coercing us out of our kicks with the introduction of the season’s biggest shoe trend: the chunky heel.

From Proenza Schouler to Phillip Lim, designers all over New York Fashion Week have begun this “heel reimmersion” program to get fashionistas back into their heels once again.

From block-heeled boots to brocade platform sandals, here are my picks for the chunky heels that will make you swoon this spring!

BOOTS

Even though we’ve kissed winter goodbye, boots are a mainstay in our spring shoe-drobes. But one thing is for certain – the block heel is back. Whatever you do, don’t be boring! Make a statement with flare heels, flamboyant prints and glitter because, let’s face it, a gal can never have too many glitter boots!

Zimmermann Lace up dress boot $550, Topshop Maggie flared heel boot $132.25, Senso UMAR II boot $320.

MULES

It may be one of those 90s trends that we thought was gone forever but it’s BACK! Again, this season is all about playing around with fun fabrics and textures. Opt for a suede pair in sorbet hues or styles with a little fringe detail.

Sol Sana Suede fringe mule $199.95, Topshop Nino suede mules $104, By Far Scandi green strap mule $392.75.

STRAPPY

As summery as it comes, the strappy block heel is a new-season staple. Whether you’re into tie-up tassel straps, 90s prom styles or stacked wooden heels, there will be something out there for you.

Rafa The Sky sandal $501, Alias Mae Abacus heel $219.95, Tony Bianco Ash suede heel $179.95.

CLOGS

These wooden platform beauties will always have a place in our wardrobes (and hearts <3). Clogs will take you from day to night and back again with ease and are able to be paired with anything from pretty dresses to jeans (wear with socks if you’re feeling a little crazy!).

Zomp 2 Baia Vista Nero heel $195, Gorman Lacey clog $249, Funkis Camilla clog $189.

PLATFORM

What’s not to love about the platform? Giving you a little extra height, this bit of sole also gives you a little extra support underfoot. Styles with a vintage edge are making waves this season so embrace brocade, velvet and embellishments.

Senso Pip I ebony suede heel $295, Jeffrey Campbell Candice platform $145, H&M Platform sandal $39.95.
