Big News: Chanel Is Staging Its First-Ever Australian Show Later This Year
cc you soon, sydney
By Victoria Lewis | 3rd June 2026Fashion history is being made as we speak, because Chanel has just announced it is hosting its very first Australian runway show, and we are clutching our pearls in anticipation.
Though no venue has been announced as yet, the showcase will share its Resort 2027 collection in Sydney on Thursday, November 5. The collection, marked by coral accents, raffia skirts, and bold under-the-sea motifs, first hit the catwalk in Biarritz, France, the coastal town where Chanel opened its first couture house outside of Paris in 1915. But with its overall playful sensibility and nods to surf culture and coastal living, it’s a befitting collection to mark the first time a Chanel show will reach Australian shore.
The Maison’s first journey Down Under comes after the brand’s ongoing partnerships with a slew of Aussie superstars over the years, namely Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie, with Jacob Elordi most recently added to the mix. This ongoing Aussie connection to those, along with this latest announcement, also signals that the Australian market is firmly on the radar of luxury fashion houses.
In his short time at the helm, creative director Matthieu Blazy has already brought the house into a new era, leaving a trail of iconic moments in his wake – the show in a New York subway, models smiling on the runway, sending sheer jean-like pants down the Met Gala stairs – so, it feels like just the right time, if you ask us, to bring the house to Australia. So, like you all, we will stay anxiously anticipating what Blazy’s Chanel will do on our home soil.
