At Style we love to celebrate local up and comers, particularly bloggers who are doing great things for the fashion scene in Brisbane.

Introducing, the Blogger Series – a way for us to champion the best Brisbane bloggers on the insta photo map and for our loyal readers to get to know the personalities behind the filters.

To kick things off, we wanted to pick one of our absolute favourites; The Fashion Heist centres on fashion styling, creativity and inspiration, sustainability in the industry and health (and we have developed a slight girl crush on the stylish lady behind the chic yet approachable posts, Aicha Robertson).

Aicha has established a solid foothold in the fashion industry, working with stylists and fashion commentators such as Kimberly Gardner and our own, Kellie Alderman. She is also the co-founder and brand manager of an eco-fashion line, The Great Beyond.

Although we never would’ve guessed fashion wasn’t her first choice; Aicha says she “kinda fell into it while studying journalism” – if only everyone found becoming a successful blogger that easy!

Find out what else Aicha dished in our recent interview:

Style: Name 7 things you can’t live without…

Aicha: Sparty my dog. Le Specs. My Nilly + Booth Lip Stain. Nilly + Booth Oil Cleaning Balm. iPhone. Any staple piece from The Great Beyond. Morning superfood smoothie.

Has working in the fashion industry always been a goal of yours?

Fashion was never ever my first choice, I kinda fell into it while studying journalism. My first love and goal in life is song writing but most definitely fashion has taken over quite a bit these days.

What do you love most about the industry?

Fashion is such a unique industry just like music, it has so many different elements that you can be involved in. From styling to writing the opportunities are endless, I especially love how many creatives there are to work with.

What was the catalyst for starting up your blog, The Fashion Heist?

It was really a place for me to write about my favourite fashion shows & eBay finds! But when I interned with Kimberly Gardner I started talking about my experiences, working back stage at MBFF shoots and fashion shows it turned into a diary about my fashion adventures.

What’s been your favourite collaboration so far?

Ohhh that’s a hard one but most definitely working with First Base, they have such an ultra cool brand. I was thrilled to have collaborated with them and meeting the team behind the label was even more exciting!

How do you see the blog growing in the future?

Right now, I am working to incorporate my music into it somehow, so YouTube seems to be the next element.

Tell us about your work with The Great Beyond?

The Great Beyond is an eco-fashion line my partner Nicolas and I created about 6 months ago. The idea came to fruition due to the lack of environmental and ethical standards a lot of fashion labels just don’t seem to enforce or aspire to embody. So our basics line was created, it’s been such an amazing experience to join in with our fellow eco peers such as Undress Runways, Goodnight Society and Fashion Revolution to spread the word of change. It’s such a huge passion of mine now and it’s so important for fashion bloggers to be aware of their overuse of disposable fashion.

Describe your personal style in a few words…

Where street and chic clash.

Any designers you religiously follow?

Reformation – an eco-fashion line can’t-get-enough! Ricardo Tisci of Givenchy, Olivier Rousteing of Balmain and Fausto Puglisi.

What’s the best thing you’ve learnt from your personal styling job at Topshop?

How to add colour to my outfits! Working in personal shopping in Topshop was such a fun experience with Adele Frost by my side, our styles are so different so I learnt how to create new and exciting looks.

Do you have any random skills?

Hmmm, I’m a whizz with iMovie and I can do a spot on re-enactment of Tim Curry’s Dr. Frank-N-Furter character from Rocky Horror Picture show!

If you had to live with one celebrity’s wardrobe, who would you chose?

Oh this is too hard, so many greats! I’ll put it down to two – Daphne Guinness and Anna Dello Russo, my fashion thirst would be forever complete!

Name your ultimate front row gang to hit New York Fashion Week with?

Andre Talley, Daphane Guinness, Anna Dello Russo, Olsen Twins, Jourdan Dunn, Cara Delevingne and my fellow Brisbane blogger Rachele Edson.

Describe a typical day-in-the-life of Aicha Robertson…

Normally I spend a decent hour in the morning without any electronic devices, then check my emails. Send out orders for The Great Beyond and then shoot images either for my blog or the label. It’s busy but fun, I wouldn’t change it at all!

On Friday nights you’ll find me…

…at Rawsqueeze at Charlie’s Fruit Shop enjoying a late night Acai bowl

I can never go past a sale at…

…any store on James Street especially Aje.

I always take out-of-towners to…

…Sourced Grocer and probably GOMA, I love that area – it’s so beautiful.

My fave place to shoot an outfit post for my blog is…

…around Gasworks, there’s some sweet pieces of architecture there.

When I need to clear my mind you’ll find me…

…at Bunyaville Forest Reserve with my dog Sparty.
