Australia finally has an answer to the ugly Christmas jumper

Because sweaters just aren't made for our scorching summer heat.

We all know Christmas in Australia is VERY different from the idealistic northern hemisphere festivities on the silver screen.

They get to make snowmen, drink cocoa, snuggle by the fireplace and don the ugly Christmas sweater. We get to make epic sand castles, drink a beer with mates, loiter near the pool, fridge, beach or anything with water and cooling properties (why is it so damn hot on Christmas Day?!) and now… don our very own version of the ironically trendy, kitschy and amusing holiday sweater.

Introducing The Ugly Xmas Rashie! This gorgeous creation hails from Gold Coast-based creators Kozii Swimwear, in collaboration with Cancer Council Queensland.

The limited edition Ugly Xmas Rashies are sun safe (rated UPF 50+) and 100 per cent Australian-made, with all profits helping Cancer Council Queensland in the fight against cancer.

Cancer Council Queensland spokesperson Katie Clift says the Ugly Xmas Rashie is Australia’s answer to the global Christmas trend and Cancer Council are proud to be beneficiaries of the sale of every rashie sold.

She says the funds from every purchase will be invested in vital cancer research, patient support and prevention programs.

“Two in three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer before age 70, so staying sun safe and raising funds for Cancer Council is more important than ever.”

The Ugly Xmas Rashie has been released as part of a limited edition range of unisex sizes available exclusively online for $69.95.

Love it or hate it, the ugly holiday sweater is an unyielding sartorial tradition. This Aussie version is one you can wear proudly this season without sweating your tush off.

Order yours in time for Christmas and hashtag your pictures with #uglyxmasrashie @uglyxmasrashie to help raise awareness.
