Trust us, there’s never a dull moment when you grab a heap of A-List celebrities and plonk them in a desert. Past years have seen scandals, fall-outs, outrageous performances (we’re looking at you this year, Madonna), and most importantly the bold and eclectic get-ups sported by the fashion elite (you can check out our best of Coachella 2014 here). With no holey tents, blow-up mattresses and camp stoves in sight (no need to mention the god forsaken loo situation) the glampers are back and at it again, 2015 style.
With fash-pack darlings such as Alexa Chung, Kate Bosworth and Kylie Jenner rocking out to music’s big names (shout out to Australia’s Angus & Julia Stone, Tame Impala, Chet Faker, Vance Joy and Peking Duk - not to mention Aussie rock legends AC/DC, who rightfully showed the American’s how we do it Down Under), the star-studded gathering was as ever, a chance to out-rival each other in the fringe department.
With no chance of the boho-come-gypsy-come-hippy vibe ever leaving, (fringing dominated the runway at this year’s spring/summer ’15 ready-to-wear shows with collections from Givenchy, Proenza Schouler and Emilio Pucci all featuring the 70’s revival look), Coachella’s celebs appropriated the go-to Native American trend in a variety of colours and fabrics from hemlines to accessories. If you missed it on Instagram it still happened; so here’s a sneak peek of this year’s best fringe behaviour.
Hanging out with cool kids Kendall Jenner and Hailey Baldwin, Fergie was all smiles as she frolicked from stage to stage, sashaying her Alberta Ferretti brown suede vest teamed with a Raquel Allegra sheer black tank, distressed denim Daisy Dukes and Celine mini bag. Later on the singer was seen in a pair of to-die-for Guiseppe Zanotti studded fringed suede boots at a cool $2,070, not only making the boys go loco but us in the Style office too. Wowzer!
With an array of beautiful people by her side this weekend, reality star-turned-model, Kendall danced up a storm with sister Kylie Jenner, Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber - who recently starred alongside her in a glossy Calvin Klein campaign. Day one saw Kenny wear a Derek Lam 10 Crosby Spring 2015 suede vest with a striped bikini top, ripped boyfriend shorts, Saint Laurent python leather boots with that all important fringe bag to complement her edgy festival look. Day two in Indio had the model sport a Jen’s Pirate Booty crop top, sass & bide Soul Kitchen slit pants, an Etro fringe bag and the same Saint Laurent boots from the day before, completed with a B-Low the Belt Double Cowboy belt. E! News reports the Kardashian sister’s festival outfit cost a whopping grand total of $5850! Yikes!
Glamazon Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra showed off her famous bod at the Forever 21 BBQ in the most affordable outfit of the day. She channelled effortless boho-chic in the fashion chain store’s own suede fringe halter top coming in at a mere $33! The beauty paired her fringing with denim shorts, tan cowboy boots and a turquoise statement necklace for a pop of colour.
Hands down our favourite outfit of the day belonged to Rosie, whose white lace Chloe spaghetti strap dress we gazed at starry-eyed for a good hour or so. With many celebs opting for tan tassels this year, we love Rosie’s romanticised take on the classic Native American appropriation with a delicate, feminine twist. The model finished off the look with Chloe Dafne sunnies and a Coach Dakotah studded textured-leather shoulder bag.
The Blonde Salad goes to Coachella! The well-travelled Italian fashion blogger-turned-designer can do no wrong as she spent day three with boyfriend Andrew Arthur wearing an H&M embellished vest, vintage tan fringe skirt, Celine bag, tie-up brown sandals and Dita Eyewear sunnies.
