They say good style starts at home and whether your little one likes to keep it casual or stand out from the kindy crowd, springtime calls for a wardrobe upgrade.

Regardless of your own inclination towards fashion, it’s important to be locked on the radar of the latest kids fashion trends so you’re little one is always one stylish step ahead of the game.

Lucky for you, we’ve hacked the sensors and compiled a list of all the looks your little fashion fiend will slay in at their next big event a.k.a. Timmy’s 7th b’day party.

Tees under slips

We couldn’t begin this list without an honourable mention of the mini style queen of the kids fashion scene: North West. She may have two of the biggest fashion influencers for parents as well as an entourage of stylists on hand, but no one can deny that North can’t seem to get enough of this simple but stylin’ combo. Not only is it super cute, but there’s an added bonus of sun protection with the addition of a short or long-sleeve tee underneath. This is one look we’ll be seeing on little ones everywhere this season.

Bandanas

While we have taken a liking to sporting a neckerchief to elevate our outfits, bubs can opt for a bandana, too. And when it comes to bandannas, the bigger the bow the better. A bandana is the perfect accessory addition to subtly give any outfit a pop of colour. It also means you can keep the hair off their chocolate-smudged face in most fashionable way possible. I’ll take two!

Keep It Couture

When it comes to dressing your little one for a special occasion, nothing speaks originality quite like a custom made outfit. Brisbane-based designer Ekaterina Sikalas draws inspiration from the latest fashion and couture trends to create celebration couture outfits for kids. Using high quality fabrics and exquisite embellishments, it’s clear that every Ekaterina Sikalas piece is handmade with love and impeccable attention to detail.

Bright Footwear

If an outfit is lacking the right amount of edge to match their personality, step up the fun factor with a bright pair of shoes. Whether it’s a pair of jelly sandals, street style sneakers or a pair of bright boots, make them as loud as possible with yellows, greens or reds. Bonus points if you can subtly tie the colour in with the outfit.

Shirt Dresses

While these are a spring staple in our wardrobe, don’t dismiss how cute this exact style could look on your little one. We reach for the humble shirt dress because it is easy to wear, super comfortable and stylish all at the same, which you know your daughter will love as well.

Sweats Done Right

It’s a fashion faux pas a lot of adults struggle to make look good, but when done right, it’s a killer mix of athleisure and effortless style. It’s super easy once you know how to do it and can keep your little one comfortable throughout the day. Simply pair your preferred style of sweats with a clean sneaker (preferably high top) and a crisp, graphic tee. That’s it, the big secret – pretty easy right?

Statement bag

A post shared by ⭐Child Model⭐ (@____zuri) on

For a standout handbag that won’t break the bank, have your kiddo pick their fave bag from the toy box and create an outfit with a little bit of interest. The bag should still stand out against the rest of the outfit but it’s nice to pull less heavily featured colours from the bag and match the colours in the clothes to that.

Broad Brims

When a fashion trend aligns with your parenting responsibilities, it’s always a welcome pleasure. Opt for the on-trend style of the season and pop a broad brim hat on your boy or gal. When committing to this trend, opt for a straw hat or keep it stylish with a felt or leather piece.

Athletic Mash-ups

Mixing your favourite athletic brands with some fun and playful pieces gives this look a touch of personality. To teach a lesson in breaking boundaries, pair an adidas tee with a fluffy pink tutu or a Nike shirt with a distressed pair of jeans.

Mesh Tanks For Boys

A post shared by @crazy.with.kaan on

With temps soaring to the high 30’s in some states it’s often hard to keep the kids stylish when they just want to be free to run around in the nude. Suns out buns out, right? Well we’ve got the next best thing. Mesh tanks are back from the 90’s and this time they’re making the rounds in our kid’s wardrobe. Pair with linen shorts and neutral tones for a relaxed, airy and fashionable get-up.

Loud Sunnies

A post shared by COCO (@coco_pinkprincess) on

Yet another sun safety item to tick off the shopping list: statement sunnies. Your kid will learn to love these weird plastic things covering their eyes and changing the colour of their world if you introduce it to them in a fun and exciting way. Experiment with different frame and lens colours, shapes and reflective pieces. Tie it to the outfit through colour!

All White

A post shared by @stellaandblaise on

Although it’s the colour all parents dread the most, when it is the predominant colour in an outfit it can look runway worthy. Nothing says fresh and pure more than white and to cover your kid in it head to toe would keep them looking stylish and seemingly impervious to dirt, smears and smudges (if only it worked that way).
