Guys….. THERE’S A CHEESE FESTIVAL! Okay, sorry about all the caps, but I just really wanted to get that out there. Brisbane this weekend is popping with fun events, so read on to make your plans!

The best of Brisbane Fireworks is back and bigger than ever. The Brisbane river will be lit with vibrant pinks, blues, greens and reds as the spectacular firework show continues to stun and amaze. The display will be paired with the top 20 songs of the last 20 years. Some of the best spots to see Riverfire is from Victoria Bridge, South Bank, Kangaroo Point Cliffs, Captain Burke Park, Wilson’s Lookout, City Riverwalk, including Riverside Centre and Eagle Street Pier. Or alternatively, check out this article for the best venues.

Grab your vodka, this Russian dumpling party is here and it’s going to be awesome. All are welcome as you make pelmeni, eat the pelmeni and celebrate how delicious Russian food is. Parking will be limited on the night so guests are encouraged to travel by bus, with Woolloongabba station only being a 5-minute walk away from the Russian Club of Brisbane.

My Pet Warehouse in Stafford is teaming up with QSAR to host an adoption BBQ. The Staffy rescue pups will be the focus, as well as their devoted foster carers. Head on down enjoy a snag or two and support a great cause. Who knows, you may just find your fur-ever friend there.

The footy season comes to an end with a big bang where the Adelaide Crows and Richmond Tigers will go face to face for the desired AFL premiership on Sunday. Watch as the mighty underdog Tigers try and take down the minor premiers Crows. Dustin Martin from Richmond took out the Brownlow medal honours earlier this week but Adelaide has been the inform team the whole year with a team stacked full of All-Australians so we should be in for a great game. The Killers will be performing for the pregame event, you’ll want to make sure you’re tuned in. Not sure where to watch all the action? This should help!

It’s almost Halloween and Movie World is getting spooky. Bigger and scarier than ever this event is not for the faint-hearted. Horrific scare precincts, panic rooms and mazes make up this truly terrifying night. Watch as horror movies like Saw, Halloween and the Conjuring 2 come to life. Tickets sell out quick so make sure you purchase ASAP.

Make your way to the Teneriffe Brewery to celebrate Oktoberfest the right way. Get your lederhosen on and enjoy the best German foods, including Pretzels, Pork Knuckle, Schnitzel, German Sausages and German Krafted Salads. Entry is free so bring your friends and enjoy a beer (or four) this Sunday.

Footy Finals Fever is here, so don your North Queensland Cowboys or Melbourne Storm jersey and go celebrate at your local pub. Better yet, host a party at your home and celebrate the grand final knowing whatever happens at least no Sydney teams will win (go QLD) with your closest friends and family. The North Queensland Cowboys have had one of the greatest finals runs in NRL history making it to the big dance from the 8th seed with some of their best players out injured but with players like Michael Morgan and Jason Taumalolo showing their skillful and systematic abilities they’re undoubtedly one of the best teams in the comp, but the Melbourne Storm have been named by some as one of the greatest NRL teams ever with their big three Smith, Cronk and Slater showing their class and unselfishness. This is definitely something you can’t miss. We’ll be hitting up any one of these awesome sports bars to take in all the action!

Wardrobe Warriors October Market | SUN OCTOBER 1

Forget major chain stores and hit up your local fashion markets! This weekend, Wardrobe Warriors are returning for their October installation of their wildly-popular rummage sale markets. With over 50 stalls selling new, preloved, and vintage fashion fares, you are guaranteed to find something you will treasure. For a minimal $2 entry donation (which is donated to a different charity every month, with $25 000 having been raised so far), you can wander the aisles and discover wardrobes in every size, style and brand. Hit up the ATM prior to the event, as there is no ATM on site, and where your comfy thriftin’ shoes, as no heels are permitted on the floors. Help support your community, charity and our planet by shopping ethically, sustainably (and cheaply) at the Wardrobe Warriors monthly market!

If cheese is your spirit animal then this is the festival you need. Enjoy an eclectic mix of all things cheese, charcuterie, condiments, wine, craft beer, ciders and more. Rub shoulders with fellow cheese enthusiasts while you indulge in a cheese tasting adventure paired with master classes in wine, beer and cheese, of course. Set in the picturesque garden of the Newstead House, prepare for everything but your tastebuds to relax with amazing flavours, live music and entertainment. The festival is from 10am, so get in early to nab the best stuff!

Hosted in Brisbane Square, Suitcase Rummage is a mini market with massive reward. Stallholders will bring a suitcase filled with second-hand clothes, handmade goods or even some hidden gems. So grab your purse and head on down. You’ll want to bring a bag because you won’t leave empty-handed.
