My life is a never-ending cycle of “YES, THE WEEKEND IS COMING” and “NO, THE WEEKEND IS OVER” and it’s a very frustrating way to live. If you too suffer from weekenditis (it’s a real thing. Urban Dictionary has an entry on it) then I have the cure. You guessed it! It’s a bunch of awesome events in Brisbane this weekend. Or maybe you didn’t guess it because you’ve already got weekenditis. I feel ya.
Single Asian Female
Performed as part of La Boite Theatre Company’s HWY festival, this black comedy tells the story of second generation Chinese-Australian sisters navigating dating, divorce, pregnancy and high school, all while their mother is facing possible deportation. Writer Michelle Law has already shown her hilarity and incredible depth throughout her career and you can find out more on her blog, Single Asian Female, and this is an event not to be missed!

DATES: 6pm on Thursday, July 14
Entertainers, entrepreneurs and audience members will be put on the spot with nothing more than a stage, a microphone and a slide deck full of images they’ve never seen. A virtual wheel determines at random what kind of talk they have to give. It might be in the style of a TED Talk, the launch of a new app, a quarterly report or even a wedding toast. The only goal: get through the show and attempt to leave the audience speechless.
