CHILDHOOD CANCER FOUNDATION’S STAR WARS TRIVIA NIGHT | THURSDAY, MAY 4

May the Force be with you as you try to answer all the Star Wars trivia questions at The Fox Hotel. Teams of two to six people will compete for a range of prizes (and bragging rights). There’s a best dressed competition and tickets are just $15pp, with all proceeds supporting the Childhood Cancer Foundation. Get in quick before tickets sell out!

IPSWICH FESTIVAL | Thursday, MAY 4-Sunday, MAY 14

The 10-day Ipswich Festival kicks off on Thursday, May 4 with the Fire on the River spectacular at Riverlink Shopping Centre. Arts, crafts, music, theatre and dance all play a role, with events to suit all ages and tastes. Check out their website for ticketing information and a full festival programme.

BODIA BALL | FRIDAY, MAY 5

Dust off your black-tie best! Raising vital funds for the SCCDO orphanage in Cambodia, the Bodia Ball will host over 300 people for a night filled with great food, live entertainment and free-flowing drinks. The LED dancefloor comes complete is with a live band and DJ so everyone can gets their groove on for a good cause.

THE PRINCESS BRIDE AND DIRTY DANCING 30TH ANNIVERSARY DOUBLE FEATURE | FRIDAY, MAY 5

Nobody puts Brisbane events like this in the corner. Head to Metro Arts to celebrate the 30th anniversary of ’80s classics The Princess Bride and Dirty Dancing. Tickets are $16pp and there is a licenced bar on the premises so you really can have the time of your life.

QUEENSLAND BALLET’S SWAN LAKE | FRIDAY, MAY 5-SATURDAY, MAY 13

The classic tale is considered one of the greatest ballets of all time. Spectacular sets and costumes, and phenomenal dancing by the Queensland Ballet breathe new life into the tale of good versus evil. Set to Tchaikovsky’s glorious score as performed by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, it’s a performance not to be missed.

PRETTY IN PINK HIGH TEA | SATURDAY, MAY 6

Support the Breast Cancer Foundation at the Pretty in Pink High Tea at Club Pine Rivers. Dress in pink while you watch the fashion parade and nibble on sweet and savoury treats. There’ll be raffles and guest speakers, plus your $25pp ticket includes a complimentary glass of bubbles on arrival.

THE GREAT BRISBANE BIKE RIDE AND MT COOT-THA CHALLENGE | SUNDAY, MAY 7

Are you brave enough to try and tackle the gruelling ride up and over Mt Coot-tha? Embrace pedal power at the Great Brisbane Bike ride and Mt Coot-tha Challenge this Sunday. Choose between the 10km, 40km, 75km and 110km routes that take in the best of the river city. Registration is essential.

BARKS AND BREWS #2 | SUNDAY, MAY 7

Pack your pooch and head to the second Bark and Brews Sunday session at The Brightside Brisbane. There’ll be a doggy and owner look-alike competition, pupper photo booth, plus plenty of tunes so you can kick back with a cold one and your favourite furry friend.
