World Press Photo Exhibition 2018 | All weekend
Seriously, this exhibition is incredible. It’s an awe-inspiring showcase of the world’s most compelling, controversial and intimate moments as captured by award-winning photojournalists from around the world. The photos were all entered as part of the World Press Photo Exhibition, with the showcase featuring a selection of some of the most striking images. It’s a must-see event before it wraps up later this month!
Skating at King George Square | All weekend
This is your chance to enjoy your very own Rockefeller Centre moment, right here in Brisbane. The temporary ice skating rink and toboggan slide have set up right in the CBD, allowing you the chance to slip and slide your way through winter. Extra points if you show up in one of those cute professional figure skating outfits.
The Bowerbird & The Bride | From Thurs, July 12
Are you on the hunt for wedding inspiration? Or just a lover of anything vintage? If this sounds like you, then The Bowerbird and The Bride Vintage Wedding Exhibition is right up your alley. On display at QUT’s Old Government House, the exhibition showcases bridal gowns, headpieces, bouquets, bridesmaids and flower girl’s outfits, and accessories from the 1880s to 1970s, restored by acclaimed Australian costume designer Marion Boyce. Marion will display a selection of historical bridal gowns from her own personal collection, revealing an intimate glimpse into her immense archive of clothing.
James Turrell Lights at GOMA | Fri, July 13
From the renowned artist James Turrell, the newly commissioned installation will dramatically illuminate GOMA’s eastern and southern facades from within. Purchase drinks and a bite to eat from the GOMA Café Bistro – including BBQ and Paella stations. Plus our friends from Burleigh Brewing Co. will be onsite selling craft beers. Sit back, relax and take in the afterglow!
