Don’t miss out! MCRT.Studio is about to launch and you can go along to the opening party on Thursday, 26 July from 6pm. On the night enjoy free-flowing champagne, roving canapés and the first look at the entire exhibition!
Guys, Brisbane is going full-Starman with an incredible 70s-themed intergalactic-disco-spaceship art exhibition. Rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it?
From the artists behind @MCRT.Studio, the 33-piece portraiture collection will take over White Canvas in Newstead for a 2-week showcase. The spectacular display is a collaboration between the art studio ad Brisbane’s pioneering antique centre, Empire Revival (formerly Paddington Antique Centre) and is a euphoric and cosmic exhibition exploring our relationships with celebrities.
Titled Through The Stars, the collection celebrates life’s authentic relationships by visually portraying the fault in our perception of digital relationships with celebrity figures. With an emphasis on developments in digital, social and reality media, which have created a direct channel for users to engage with celebrity personas, it’s a curious look at the perceptions we have of these strangers. The collection aims to highlight the affinity felt towards these ‘stars’ as a skewed perception of relationships. @MCRT.Studio reflects the distance to these human ‘stars’ by implementing the use of texture sampling inspired by NASA satellite imagery of distant luminaries in their work.
The collection will be complemented by furniture and accessories sourced and curated by merchants from Empire Revival, a unique collaboration that has us excited to see what else we can expect to see from Brisbane’s creative community moving forward.
The exhibition will open its’ doors on Thursday, July 26 at 6pm for celebratory drinks, music and conversation. From there, the exhibition will run until August 8 between 9am and 6pm.
