Be inspired this summer and discover the journey of Li Cunxin, Queensland Ballet’s Artistic Director, on his incredible rise to fame. When the curtains close, it’s impossible to imagine what really went on behind the scenes for Li to be where he is today. This world-first exhibition is giving you the rare opportunity to follow the steps he took on and off the stage to get there.
From humble beginnings in the depths of rural China to International stages, Li’s story is extraordinary to say the least. Not only has his life story captivated aspiring ballerinas, but grabbed the attention of Hollywood. If you haven’t heard of Li Cunxin surely you’re familiar with the critically acclaimed novel ‘Mao’s Last Dancer,’ an autobiography of Li Cunxin, which went on to become an award-winning film that made everyone want to trade their sneakers for ballet shoes.
This exhibition is taking you inside the ballet world, featuring never before seen interviews, original documents, objects from Li’s personal archives, and footage of Li at the height of his career guaranteed to make your jaw drop.
