Statistics show one woman dies every eight hours from ovarian cancer in Australia alone. With early detection tests unavailable for ovarian cancer, the risk is high for women to pass away shortly after being diagnosed. With an excellent idea from ten friends who wanted to make a difference came Frocktober.

There are numerous ways how you can contribute to Frocktober, as all contributors want to support the issue differently. The Frocktober team therefore created a range of activities to help promote and support the cause with all funds from the month donated to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.

So, what can you do to help raise funds? Plenty of things! You can join a team, create a new team or individually raise your own funds by purchasing a $25 Frocktober Support Pack and Registration full of badges and a fundraising information guide. Another way (and easiest way) to contribute is by wearing your favourite frock during October to raise awareness and start conversations on the issue.

By joining an established team, you are welcome to attend the team’s arranged fundraising event while wearing your frock and encourage others to donate to your team to reach the desired goal! However, if you’re starting as an individual then you might need some helpful fundraising ideas to start you off.

Cocktail or Dinner Party

The aim is to not splurge too much when organizing your event. With the likes of a cocktail or dinner party, you can ask your guests to bring a bottle each or gather some full alcohol bottles from the fridge and put your skills to the test and become a cocktail mixer for the night! For those willing, offer your concoctions up for cash for some extra funds.

Fashion Show

Ever thought of holding your very own fashion show? You can head into a boutique fashion store that has new designs and ask to hold a fashion show with their pieces where the store will gain free advertisement. The entry fee can vary from $15-$20 depending on the quality of garments and the duration of the show. It’s a win win!

Trivia Night

Charging for entry at a trivia night based is another way to get the ball rolling and customers of the trivia night thinking about the statistics of ovarian cancer. Lucky dips and raffles are also another way to get some gold coin donations towards your goal!
