The Barracks Christmas Bash Thurs, Nov 30

This weekend starts on a Thursday with The Barracks Christmas Bash! Everyone’s invited to the festivities, with the first 150 guests receiving a free drink upon arrival and a free gift bag with a tonne of goodies. From 6pm DJ Niki de Saint will be performing and at 8.30pm you can attend a special Christmas movie screening of Daddy’s Home 2. 42 Below Doorstache Party at Deathproof Bar Fri, Dec 1

Hands up if you’re ready to see the mo go? Deathproof bar are throwing a MO-HARVEST party, swapping those muppet looking moustaches for cracking cocktails as they aim to create the worlds first eco-draft doorstopper made of moustaches. Steal a friend and their moustache, or simply grab the girls and go for an entertaining night like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

Coup de Grace Photography Exhibition Fri, Dec 1

Check out the work of up-and-coming Brisbane photographers at the Commercial Arts and Training College final exhibition this weekend. The exhibition is free and there will be drinks and Vietnamese canapés provided by Viet de Lites. The exhibition explores themes of personal reflection, children’s perspectives, personal identities and environmental toxicity. Make a night of it and see the world through another pair of eyes. The exhibition opens 6pm ’til 9pm at White Canvas Gallery in Newstead.

Brisbane Wonderland, Arj Barker Organic Fri, Dec 1

The Wonderland Festival started last weekend at Brisbane Powerhouse, and this weekend it’s continuing with comedy favourite Arj Barker Organic. A Grinch’s Christmas: Variety & Burlesque Show! Fri, Dec, 1

The New Globe Theatre is turning up the heat for the first day of Christmas with a satirical comedy that revels in the frustrations of the festive season. Curves & Claws brings comedy, blazing burlesque, awe-inspiring aerial acrobatics and more, with their take on everybody’s loved, or love to hate, holiday. Starting at 7.30pm, enjoy a night of humour that’ll remind you Christmas isn’t just for the kids.

City Sounds: Pat Tierney Sat, Dec 2

As always, South Bank is hosting their free live music performance from 3pm-8pm. This week, Pat Tierney will be telling his story through song with his laid-back and individual sound, inspired by old-time folk and blues musicians. Make an afternoon of it with friends and a picnic, what a relaxing way to officially start your summer season.

Dirty Dancing/Princess Bride 30th Anniversary Screenings Sat, Dec 2

Don’t put yourself in a corner on Saturday! Head to Metro Arts, Lumen Room on Edward Street to see classic movies Dirty Dancing or Princess Bride for their 30th Anniversary Screenings. Based on the well-known Charles Dickens story, the movie features Jim Carrey who voices Scrooge, as a young, middle-aged, and then grouchy old man as he goes through a journey of his past, present and future in hope of transforming his bitterness. Starting at 7pm, all you need to bring along is a blanket and some snacks for a night of free festive entertainment.

Jack Johnson is playing at the Riverstage this weekend in Brisbane as part of his tour of Australia and New Zealand. Listen to your favourite songs under the stars and sway the night away listening to his best hits. Johnson’s has previously released five solo records and his music is primarily soft rock and acoustic. Touring in support of his forthcoming studio album, All The Light Above It Too, it is set to be a fantastic evening. Unfortunately, tickets to this much-awaited gig have sold out but can still be bought through Ticketmaster’s resale page.

Pinknic: Rose Revolution Sun, Dec 3

Starting this Sunday in Brisbane, the Osbourne Hotel is hosting the city’s first ‘Pinknic’, following Brisbane’s sell-out Rosé Revolution.
