This Epic Brisbane Picnic Party Is Helping Us Forget That Winter Is Almost Here

Say hello to your weekend plans.

With winter on our doorsteps, we’re eager for any opportunity to embrace the last few rays of warmth before (more or less) sequestering ourselves away for hibernation.

Dramatic? Possibly. Accurate? Of course.

In an effort to hold on to the last of autumn, we’re are super excited about the gigs and picnic event taking place in the CBD throughout May! Hosted in the gorgeous City Botanic Gardens, the weekly pop-up party will include live music and food trucks in one of the most iconic green spaces in Brisbane. Blending our two favourite things – picnics and live music – is a pretty damn good reason to grab the crew together!

As far as music, each afternoon boasts a different line-up of acts delighting guests with their tunes – from jazz ensembles to reggae beats. Acts currently on the line-up include Dave Orr Band, the Lachlan McKenzie Trio and The Sugar Shakers!

While you enjoy the soothing sounds of live tunes, there will also be food trucks on hand to satisfy your tastebuds. Whether you opt for something sweet or choose to favour something savoury (or both – no judgment here), there’s really no better way to spend an afternoon. If you’re up to the challenge of putting together your own picnic basket, make sure you pack the essentials including cheese, charcuterie, spreads, crackers and all your fave accoutrement. Opt to lounge on your own picnic mat or take advantage of the available deck chairs and picnic rugs available!

Gigs & Picnics will be taking place every Saturday during May, between 12pm-4pm at the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens.

When she's not at the beach, she can be spotted lusting after makeup she can't afford, re-watching The Office (the US version, obviously) or annoying her friends with her insane astrology theories (she's an Aquarius, FYI).
