There’s no winter freeze here, because it’s getting hot, hot, hot! The 191-year-old Brisbane City Botanic Gardens are set to burn for this year’s Brisbane Festival in an outdoor art exhibit that is sure to leave you hot and bothered in the best kind of way.

For more than 20 years, world-renowned French art collective Compagnie Carbosse have lit up everything from Stonehenge to The Kremlin to Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens, and now they’re bringing they’re alluring Fire Gardens installation to Brisbane this September. The Brisbane experience will be completely unique, with the luminary alchemists designing specifically for these gardens, so there is literally nothing like it.

For four nights, the City Botanic Gardens will be filled with terracotta urns, animatronic sculptures and handcrafted fire pots holding thousands of individual flames. Follow the pathways illuminated by naked flames through a blazing maze-like realm to find trees set alight with burning pyres, flames dancing in the middle of ponds and huge spheres that crackle and roar as they burn. Live musicians performing French music will complete the radiant ambience to ignite even the coldest hearts.

Tickets go on sale Thursday May 30 with pre-sale from Monday May 27, and with up to 40,000 people expected to attend, they will be going off like wildfire. Prices will begin at $25 and then rise up to $33 the longer they’re available, so get in quick. Once you have a ticket, you can enter at one of five different times each night, in half-hour intervals from 6pm-8:30pm. Once inside, you can stay until close at 9:30pm and let your inner pyromaniac shine.
