Just beyond the hustle and bustle of the CBD is an inner-city suburban pocket for the weekend wanderers and mid-week wannabe locals, with leafy rolling hills, cafés aplenty, boutique treasures, galleries and relaxed, chilled dining venues and bars.

And if you’re not a local, you’re probably missing out on the BIGGEST treasures of them all. Here is a mini map of some of the best places to eat, shop and play in Paddington:

If you were wearing your comfy shoes (and pants) you could spend the whole day indulging at the cafés, restaurants and bars in Paddington. Every venue is so close you could be forgiven for missing something truly great.

There’s no time for bad coffee and a lacklustre meal in the morning, especially when you’re eating out! Paddington has a horde of amazing cafes spilling out onto the walkways, but we have a soft spot for the quaint Queenslander with the picket white fence, Kettle & Tin, and the cosy cottage verandah on the prime Latrobe Terrace corner that is home to Atticus Finch Cafe. Located within the old Paddington apothecary, Anouk Café serves up breakfast with a view from their heritage bay windows. Plus, Chapter IV has an outback deck with a sloping drop at the back of the property that provides a magnificent suburban view!

Whether you’re feeling peckish or in need of a small feed to keep you energised for your shopping trip ahead, Shouk Café offers refined Middle Eastern lunch dishes; Primal Pantry serves up 100 per cent paleo lunches and other healthy goodies; and Remy’s has an amazing range of burgers and craft beer!

In Paddington, you get the pick of every cuisine, from Italian favourites Grappino and Il Posto, and Japanese newcomer Hai Hai Ramen to Khot Thai Restaurant and Darling & Co., the modern Australian dining hub near Suncorp Stadium.

Paddington is known for its eclectic range of fashion and accessories, from high-end boutiques to trendy thrift shops and homewares stores. The Paddington Antique Centre is a great place to look for recycled and up-cycled furniture; Happiness Place is great for quirky, bright finds; Cocoon Petite Living is known for its range of children’s homewares and toys; and Green Tangerine is home to unique and handcrafted gifts, ceramics, vases and tableware.

There’s a fashion fix for every unique style in Paddington, with everything from casual to formalwear on offer. Find your sole-mate at Adavera Footwear or Shoe Station, and your next elegant event dress at Living Silk or Sacha Drake (they even tailor garments to fit and flatter!). Hip boutiques Lily & Bridge, Red Works, Petrol Boutique and Side Street Boutique stock popular street labels and the latest trends. For something a little eccentric, try Alma Mexicana for Mexican-inspired fashion and homewares, or splurge a little at designer jeweller Jewels NY.

If you’re feeling thrifty, walking along the terraces of Paddington (Latrobe Terrace and Given Terrace) will give you ample opportunity to find unique vintage finds and bargains galore.

It’s not all about wining, dining and splurging in this leafy suburb. If you’re looking for something different, you can visit Government House to tour the grounds and gardens, stock up on popcorn and see a movie at Palace Barracks, or book in for a creative workshop with Blake & Taylor, including screen printing, flower arranging and cushion cover workshops. And why not try your hand at knitting or crochet during a friendly group class at boutique centre Old Memory Lane?

After dark, you can spend the night sipping wine and creating your own painting masterpiece at Brush & Barrel or head to Brisbane’s first dedicated board game bar, Club Sosay, for a game of your choice with bar nibbles and drinks.
