Anyday’s New Venue Brings Smoke, Sound & Middle Eastern Soul To Brisbane’s CBD

Word on the street

By Bianca Licina | 19th August 2025

We’ve sipped late-night cocktails at LOS Bar, carb-loaded at Biànca, gone bold at Agnes, spiced things up at sAme sAme, indulged at Hôntô, and started our mornings right at Idle. Now, Brisbane’s favourite hospo heavyweights, the Anyday Group, are levelling up with their first-ever CBD restaurant: Golden Avenue – a place built for long lunches that roll into lively dinners and everything delicious in between.

After months of whispers (and a whole lot of anticipation), the news is finally out: Golden Avenue opens its doors Tuesday 26 August. And because everything the Anyday team touches turns to, well, gold, we’re not even pretending to play it cool. This one’s going to be big.

Located at 67 Edward Street, Golden Avenue isn’t just a restaurant – it’s a full-on sensory playground. Picture this: smoky charcoal wafting through the air, lush garden terraces bringing a slice of paradise to the city, and a soundtrack of good vibes filling the space. It’s a celebration of Middle Eastern cuisine, hospitality, and all the magic that happens when food, friends, and atmosphere collide.

In the kitchen

Ben Williamson, Anyday Co-Owner and Culinary Director, is diving back into his Middle Eastern roots for this one. “It’s been a minute since I’ve cooked this cuisine, and the city’s been asking for it,” Ben says. Expect a menu that’s bold, playful, and, yes, full of smoky theatrics. Think charcoal-grilled king prawns with black lime, Kibbeh nayyeh with urfa chilli, wood-baked John Dory, and heavenly desserts like Luqaimat and Baklava mille-feuille.

Joining Ben is Executive Chef Adam Wolfers, a master of Middle Eastern fine dining, and Head Chef Tim Yates, fresh from London’s hot-spot Scully. Together, this trio is crafting a menu that’s both nostalgic and excitingly new – light, fresh, dynamic, and unmissable.

Inside Golden Avenue

The space itself is a stunner. Designed by Jared Webb of J.AR OFFICE, Golden Avenue is a 500-square-metre oasis tucked into a low-rise heritage pocket of the city. Forget your typical brutalist concrete box – here, skylights, tiered gardens, retractable roofs, and textured surfaces turn the interior into a sun-drenched, verdant escape. It’s a Moroccan riad vibe, minus the passport stamp. Whether you’re in a private nook for 30 or a shared table for 150, the setting is as much a part of the experience as the food.

Who’s thirsty?

And for those who live for the cocktails? Adjacent to the restaurant, GA – Golden Avenue’s bar – is ready to pour, with a dedicated snack menu and over 130 spirits. Open from 11.30AM to midnight, it’s your go-to for pre-dinner drinks, late-night vibes, or anything in between.

Golden Avenue is more than a restaurant. It’s a city playground, a feast for the senses, and a new standard for what Brisbane dining can feel like. If you’re looking for bold flavours, good times, and an experience that hits all the senses, your new favourite spot has arrived.
