By Bianca Licina | 17th July 2025What if we told you some of the world’s best pizza is about to land in Paddington?
Vincenzo Abbate – one of the globe’s most celebrated pizza chefs – is opening his very first pizzeria in Australia, and yes, it’s happening right here in Brisbane.
Joining forces with Paddington cult-favourite Fratelli’s, Fratelli by Vincenzo Abbate is the newly reimagined pizzeria set to serve up world-class pizza in the heart of the neighbourhood. Big news? Yeah, we think so too.
A pizza legend joins the fold
Hailing from Naples, Vincenzo Abbate is one of the most revered names in pizza. Ranked among the top 50 pizza chefs in the world, Vincenzo is a trailblazer in the modern Neapolitan movement – famous for his high-hydration dough, long fermentation, wild creativity, use of Mollini Pizzuti (more specifically, Costa d’Amalfi), and flavour combos that push pizza into new dimensions.
From receiving culinary accolades at The Best Pizza Awards in Milan to hosting workshops that draw pizza pros from around the world, Vincenzo has earned his place as one of the best in the biz.
And now, he’s bringing his craft to Australia with Fratelli by Vincenzo Abbate. This long-term collaboration will see Vincenzo spending time in Brisbane each year to work alongside the team, refine the menu, and bring his signature magic to the ovens at Fratelli.
First Stop: one-night-only pizza degustation
In his first move at Fratelli, Vincenzo is hosting a one-night-only pizza degustation on Wednesday 23 July from 6PM, and trust us – you won’t want to miss it.
Here’s what’s on the menu:
A multi-course pizza tasting designed and fired by Vincenzo himself
A live burrata-making demonstration
A welcome drink on arrival
Live music to set the scene
All this, for just $90 per person.
Whether you’re a die-hard pizza fan or simply curious to see what world-class dough tastes like, this is your chance to experience it firsthand – right here in Paddington.

The future of Fratelli
Since opening in 2023, Fratelli has quickly earned cult status for its warm hospitality, rustic-chic interiors, and serious commitment to quality. At the helm is Cristian Salvati, also behind Tamborine Cheese Factory and Byron Bay Cheese Factory – so yes, the cheese game here is very strong.
Now, with Vincenzo Abbate officially joining the Fratelli family, the pizzeria is stepping into a whole new league. Expect boundary-pushing pizzas, international influence, and a big, bright future for this local favourite.
